Jackson has threatened to move the filming to Eastern Europe, which would seem to lack the breathtaking vistas that made the "Lord of the Rings" films look like they really did take place in a fantasy world.
Then someone should make him take a look to western Europe, namely Basilicata, Italy

Jackson is set to direct. :-D
Apparently, only an ongoing union dispute in New Zealand now stands between “The Hobbit” and a start date in February. Warner Brothers’ New Line Cinema unit and MGM have worked out their deal to finance the pair of films to be based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s novel, and Peter Jackson’s deal to direct is now finalized, according to a person who was briefed on the movie’s intricacies this week.
Now if they can just get the union mess cleared up.

Thank God ...
The Hobbit movies are officially going to be shot in New Zealand!
All that nonsense caused by the union is hopefully behind everyone now!
The cast is pretty much set, the location is where it should be, the right director is at the helm - time to make more incredible movies !!!! :)

I also represent +5 and +6
Although one would rather it be filmed in 2D and crappily converted to 3D to punish all those people who don't need glasses.
+7!
Enough with the 3-D crap. 3-D movies should be rare and stupid (see piranha 3-D). 3-D movies now are just money grabs, plain and simple.
