Liberty's Edge

Pretty much ruined my day. My favorite band ever torn asunder. Here's to hoping that each party can continue and make great music....

Grand Lodge

I saw it a couple days ago, I cried.

it's always shocking when the founder of a band quits.

part of me hopes the band breaks up rather than continue without portnoy.

I don't see that happening, since part of the reason was he asked or a break and they said no that they were going to keep going.

I got into DT right after Images and Words hit the shelves. And since then they've released a few cd's I thought were less than stellar, but there isn't a week that goes by where I don't find myself listening to them.

Sucks that MP is out. But I feel like he was doing so much that his original wife got tired of all the mistresses begging for time and attention. I saw the list of work he did away from his baby and I was thinking, "that's kind of rough."

His style of drumming is awesome, and he's only had one song where I felt like he missed something (Metropolis Pt. 1-very end, should end with a massive set of slams around the kit instead of a lame fade). His live performance is totally consistent. He even can adapt well enough during covers that he's able to get into the mindset of non-prog music about two minutes into it.
