Looking over the new elemental wizards I got really excited. They're the new Wu Jen! Then I got to the spell section. They seem to have fewer spells total than what normal wizards go access to with the new book. Am I missing something, or are elemental wizards the great flavor, poor nutrition alternative to the standard wizrobe?

I believe what you are missing is that the listed spells are just those that have an elemental alignment.
Elemental wizards still have access to all other wizard/sorc spells, as far as I know.

If that's the case, then awesome! But why have a fifth "all elements" school?
Those spell lists are just the list of spells you can prepare in your bonus scholl spell slot, just as abjurers can still cast cnojuration spells, though it takes a double slot if conjuration is prohibited. Their not as large as some schools, but you only lose their opposite element.

Elementalists are almost better, because 1) they only have to take 1 opposition school and 2) those oppositions schools have fewer spells, allowing them to use wider range of spells. Of course, their own elemental school is just as limited, but I still think there is a lot of potential for fun play with these wizards.
