First?!

PaizoCon General Discussion

The wifey and I landed about an hour ago at SeaTac. Are we the first out of towners to arrive for PaizoCon? (ok, so we're not here specifically for PaizoCon yet... but we're here!)

We don't really have any firm plans until Thursday, any suggestions from the locals?

Are you joining us Thursday for the "tour"?

If not, recommendations include:

Pike Place Market
Seattle Waterfront, with the Seattle Aquarium. Also a Harbor Tour with Argosy
Underground Tour (great for history buffs)
Seattle Center (which includes: EMP/SciFi Museum, Pacific Science Center, Space Needle, Monorail)
Boeing Museum of Flight
Museum of Glass (down in Tacoma)
Ballard Locks

Best bet: Get a City Pass...it includes a LOT of these, at a bargain price!

Oh, and let me be the first to say: WELCOME! ;-)

Thanks for the recommendations! The Thursday tour will depend highly on how much prep work I get done prior to Thursday (I have 4 PFS games to run). Of course that's not stopping my better half from hitting the town...

I try, try, and try. I can't play if the rules can be so easily flaunted. . . . . . . . cheaters, cheaters I say.

I'm not a local anymore, but I lived there for 8 years ... so I thought I'd chime in, too.

I totally agree with that you should go on the Underground Tour. ALSO that you should take the Duck Tour.

I always encourage people to go to the Sci-Fi Museum.

Also, for a generous-enough "donation" I can give you the home addresses of many of the game industry luminaries around town. ;^)

I'll second the City Pass suggestion, above.

I'll also second the Underground Tour, and not just for history buffs. Meandering through a few ruined, subterranean streets is a great way to get into a dungeon-exploration frame of mind.

If you're into live music, you could check out the Crocodile Cafe, El Corazon, or the High Dive. For dining downtown, I recommend Wild Ginger (Asian fusion--go with the duck) and Belltown Pizza (their special is wicked delicious).

For more touristy things, all the above suggestions are good. The arboretum (near UW) is also super nice this time of year.

Enjoy your stay!

A visit to our more "interesting" neighborhoods is advised as well....

Ballard (while you're at the Locks), Fremont (see the Troll!!), Broadway on Capitol Hill....

And, yes, the Underground Tour is great for everyone....I was just saying that history buffs will have a slight nerdgasm during the tour. ;-)

If you like photography, there's a nice spot in the West Seattle neighborhood where you can snap pictures of the downtown skyline. Just look up and head towards Alki Beach; there's an overlook-type place nearby where you can look across the water at downtown Seattle. (Being near a beach, it'll be crowded there on summer weekends.)

So we're staying in Belltown. I had a huge peanut butter cookie from a shop in Pike's, saw some fish tossed, went on the underground tour (inspired to run an urban/modern game now), ate @ Elliot's, took the ferry to Baimbridge, and now we're taking a quick break before dinner. *whew*

I know that my buddy, Darius Silverbolt, arrived last weekend, but then again, it was for work, not play.

While you are here, as a fantasy gamer, it is imperative you face the Fremont Troll.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

As seen in the film 10 Things I Hate About You

I have slain the Fremont Troll (all it cost me was an old VW beetle...)!

Saturday - Belltown/Downtown
Sunday - Seattle Center, Queen Anne, Fremont
Monday - Mt. Rainier
Tuesday - Ballard, Discovery Park, Downtown
Wednesday - Holed up in my hotel room drawing maps.
Thursday - Bellevue.
Friday thru Sunday - PARTY!

Auspician and I just arrived! EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! We're still waiting to be checked into our room, but we made it!

Driving through Washington to get here, I'm under the impression those road signs on both sides of the road when we entered the state meant "Swerving cars ahead. You are encouraged to swerve as well!" Crazy Washington drivers :P
