Bad, Bad People

I just picked up a copy of Classic Horrors Revisited from Barnes and Noble yesterday and I love it. However, I do have one bone to pick with the interior artists. You are evil, evil people to go and include an attractive derro in the mix. Bad, bad artists.

I was speaking to an artist at Gen Con last year who said his ultimate goal when drawing D&D art was to illicit a sense of "eeeeeew...but I'd still hit that".

That atittude exists in more than just D&D. Go Google image for 'Shub-Niggurath Centerfold' sometime, and keep the Brain Bleach handy.

PS -- I'm surprised there's no grumbling about the sexy werewolf gal. Okay, I think she's cute and that's cool but I thought that other people might be horrified.

I'm horrified now because could mean that the concept of furries has now tightened its grip on society... nooo!!!!

I never saw Classic Horrors Revisited... but does anyone remember the novel Flint the King by Mary Kirchoff and Douglas Niles? It included a sexy derro, who wound up doing the main character.
