'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun

The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:

Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,

And stood awhile in thought

And as in uffish thought he stood,

The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,

And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through

The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head

He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"

He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.

After watching the movie and having a good time I give the movie 4 outta 5 stars

Add one more star for the 3D Tron Trailer (not the teaser that's been out for a while).

Hmm. I think the Tron Legacy Trailer garners itself a 3 out of 5 itself. The visual effects looked awesome and you can never go wrong with a light cycles. But that's about all the movie has going for it. I'm hoping this will be a blockbuster and blow any doubts I have away. But ya never know.

Now as childish as it may be I'm REALLY looking forward to How To Train Your Dragon! As much as I hate to use the word it looks cute... and AWESOME. Come on dragons! and viking warriors. But DRAGONS. 4 out of 5

Though if I'm right I'll really have to save up the day Dragon comes out. Because on the same day Clash of the Titans releases. This is a must see as a fan of the orignal. Plus Liam Neeson is in it! So for old time value and Kraken-y goodness 4 out of 5. Why 4? Because you gotta earn that last star!

I remember that book! I can't tell you a thing about the plot except part of the ending, but I distinctly remember reading it. Who'd of thought they'd make a movie out of it?

Anyway, I'm probably going to end up seeing this movie in the next couple weeks.

Liberty's Edge

Did anybody else find the Hatter's little dance at the end of the movie to be a pointless, jarring buzzkill? I thought the scene was stupid and it really took me out of the moment. It was like watching an obnoxious child having a "Look what I can do!" moment in the middle of a funeral and the awful music for the dance seemed completely inappropriate for the movie.

Otherwise, I liked the film. Actually, I take that back. It was okay. I was entertained, but it certainly wasn't anything special. The Dormouse was awesome.

Liberty's Edge

If you had a choice between seeing Alice in Wonderland or Avatar (again) which would you do? The reason I'm asking is because our local IMAX is now playing Alice in Wonderland instead of Avatar and I haven't seen Avatar in IMAX yet, so I'll have to go a little further than I normally would have to to see it. :(

I'd see Alice again, I actually loved it a lot, but I agree with Velcro that the scene with the Hatter at the end...just really made me cringe and seemed totally out of place...and the music...

Otherwise I really really enjoyed the movie. Avatar was pretty fun to watch, but as far as wanting to see it more then once, prob not anytime soon.

Meh, no interest in this.
Burton is very hit-and-miss with me, more miss than hit lately.

All a question of taste. Avatar was great. But it's filled with clichees. And it's supposed to be a *new* story, but it seems like every concept and idea I had seen before. Don't mind in a remake or a sequel, bugs me in an entirely new work. Still a wonderful and epic movie.

I liked Alice better. But yeah, I love Tim Burton, and am a sucker for nostalgia and weird fairytales. Much more than for Space Science Fiction.

The dance was a bit weird, and definitely seemed out of place. But hey, it's the Mad Hatter, the whole character is a context breaker. And anyways, I was still too immersed in the awesomeness that was the fight against the Jabberwock to care. I loved everyhing about Alice: The cast, the acting, the music, the special effects, the rythm, the colors, the script. Everything.

So if you ask me to see any movie for a second time versus a new one, the new one will have to suck really really bad for me to go see the repeat. And Alice is everyhing but sucky.

*Edit* If you mean you already have seen both films, and want to know which one is more worthy of seeing again, but in 3D, then it is definitely Avatar. Much more bang for your buck in 3D. Appart from a few scenes (like Alice falling to Wonderland, or the Jabberwock scene) most of Alice should be equaly enjoyable in 2D, while Avatar entirely aimed for the Wow! factor you get out of 3D).

Avatars 3-d seemed to be much much more indepth, and I did enjoy the movie a lot, but yea I agree about the cliche bit. I'm along the same lines as you with Alice though, I loved the quirkiness, fairy tale quality, and tim burton (as well as the whole cast). The world was really well realized. In the end it is as you say, a question of taste. But even with Alice's "flaws" I just found myself sucked in, lost in the world and characters and the absurdity of it all. Great stuff, and it gave me a lot of inspiration for elements in my current campaign (which was already in a fantasy world like Alice).

I saw Avatar in 3-D and Alice in 2-D. I think I would have enjoyed Alice less in 3-D (there were a couple of scenes that queasy enough in 2-D), and I probably would have liked Avatar more in 2-D (which is probably good for me to buy the DVD). The few times when I did notice the 3-D effect in Avatar, it was distracting for me.

I enjoyed the fact that the 3D in Alice for the most part was just a nice addition, rather than being "In-Your-Face, Save my kitty! *shoves kitty at audience*" It could stand on its own without the extra depth, but it sure looked nice with it.

Yea I still liked Alice's 3-d, it was definitely less in your face, so it didn't intrude too much on the experience, which I liked as well. Sometimes Avatar's 3-d was a bit distracting, but cool in it's own right.

Loved Alice - It did suffer from not knowing if it should be a more adult film or a childrens film. It would have been better if it was darker.

I loved the white queen - she was just as much a psycho nutter as the red queen but she had made an oath not to kill. So she had all this pent-up rage that she wafted out with grace and beauty.

Velcro Zipper - Barbara Windsor played the door-mouse, she was in the 1960s-70s British "Carry On" comedies.

Ok now i have two reasons to see this movie..

1) Helena Bonham Carter playing the red queen as Bette Davis as Elizabeth I

2)Babs as the Doormouse.

As an aside Coplestone Miniatures do a figure of Barbara Windsor in 'Carry on Spying' as part of their Kiss Kiss Bang Bang range of 60's spy figures.

LOL, Nice! *reels back in awe of the 'In-Your-Face' kitteh* I enjoyed the 3D aspect of Alice and Avatar, not really mandatory in either IMO. Same applies to Beowulf, I suppose I'm just not impressed by the 3D capabilities currently. *wipes off blood from In-Your-Face kitteh scratches*

I'm thinking that I need to find a picture of someone being clawed in the face for a Motivator titled... 3D EFFECTS - In Your Face!.

A lot of my friends were disappointed in not-as-dark-as-expected aspect also, I had to remind them it WAS a Disney movie after all. If you've seen "Bedtime Stories" it's another Disney castration, worst Adam Sandler movie I've seen, he really needs adult humor to be funny IMO.

For those looking for violence I have to point out that no one in Wonderland really wanted to fight and those who were, the Red Queen, were deemed evil. They made Alice's entire purpose to kill the Jabberwocky, because in the words of "Zombieland", no one else would "Nut up". Despite how amazing the White Queen would've looked in that armor. *MmmmmHmmmm*

The White Queen was awesome in her own way, kinda like that ex-girlfriend who WON'T go away and is still trying to convince you that YOU DO love her, LOL! Psycho Nutter is an appropriate description. :D

Finally saw the movie yesterday, in 3D. Well, the movie could have done without 3D. The Mad Hatters dance in the end really did not fit in there, and spoiled the mood somewhat - I felt reminded of some stupid movies where the characters start to sing and dance just to have singing and dancing in the movie. It was equally stupid when Alice did the same dance back in the real world. In an RPG, I would complain that it ruined my suspense of disbelief.

Otherwise, I liked to movie - it was a homage to the story, while trying to develop it further. My wife liked the red queen best - I guess she will be "off with their head!" all day in office today.
