I guess I'm still waiting for the Sequel to Firefly/Serenity.
Blue Sun is definatly the target River Tam was being prepared for. The Alliance was obviously planning to take down the BLUE SUN Corporation and break free of its stranglehold on the Alliance Worlds.

Nope - Blue Sun is the Colonization Corporation that Earthgov hired to colonize the System that would become the Alliance Starsystem. They are bigger than big and their monopoly/stranglehold is choking the Alliance. basically it looks like they are still importing Colonists and the Alliance wants to cut off the population flow or become earths dumping ground. They certainly control huge scale shipping.

Or ... it could be her reaction to what BLUE SUN was doing to her.
Like far too many elements of that setting, it is one of the things that likely will never be fully explained, as the "franchise" will only now continue in Comicbook and Novel form. :(
