After Thovar's failed attack, Levistus again tries to force his way through Corgan's mental defenses, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9, this time successfully, causing the Crocodile King to lower his guard long enough for Caelwyn to launch a final arrow to pierce deep into the aberration's flesh.
With a deafening scream of anguish, Lord Corgan slumps to the ground.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Olo laughs and brings his ax down - embeding it in the creature's chest. Olo wipes the sweat from his brow and smiles at the blood on his hands. He looks around: "Close one, eh?"
After the group catches their breath and Olo sees that Thovar has stablized Alerion he turns to Levistus: "Do you mind if I keep the keyring? As a reminder of our adventure?"
And because I recalled a day or two ago that that item may just fullfill my and Thovar's faction mission!

"We'd best take our time and look around..."
Thovar will look all over the room and even a bit into the passage beyond to see what he can find. He will take as much time as he needs. If someone else who is better at searching is going to search as well, he will "aid" that person.
Perception: 20+3 = 23.
Or, aid another: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22. Success!

Rumaging through the crates and clutter around the cavern, the group finds amongst the practically worthless trinkets collected by the small troglodyte tribe, a greatsword, an expertly crafted longspear decorated with small bones and polished stones, a vial of some viscous liquid, and a set of lenses affixed to a leather mask.

I think we are coming to the end of this.....thank you all - this was a lot of fun. The following was my personal favorate exchange in the game....hilarious!
Hope to see some of you at Gen Con or Paizo Con!
Ed
The ugly creature stops its meal when Levistus speaks, turning the long eye-tipped tentacle to observe the new-comer.
"Me no give name!" the thing spurts at Levistus, "you rude man! You int—you inter—you stop me eating! This food time!"
The tentacle sways back and forth, appraising the sorcerer hungrily, "but maybe you not so bad... you smell tasty—er, you look er... friendly! You come closer?"
If you feel the need for a Sense Motive check to see through his clever deception, the DC is an impressive(1d20-12), think you can manage it?

Hell, I say we just take a 20 searching the place for stuff and that amulet. Might have to have you cut the "King" open Olo, since I seem to remember something about him swallowing it.
P.S. Does this mean your done with our little PBP Ed? I thought we were thinking of doing some other chapters, correct me if I am wrong.
Oh, and no cons this year but hopefully, Gencon 2011 :)

Yeah, I'll be at Paizocon UK, but I'm not going to be able to make it across the Atlantic (this year anyway).
A search of the room and Corgan's belongings reveals no signs of the amulet. If someone is cutting him open, let me know who.
Thovar and Caelwyn follow the tunnel beyond the bunks for a couple of minutes, until the sounds of waves can be heard ahead, and beams of sunlight pierce the darkness.

I loved this - I think PFS lends itself extermely well to PBP, and this is a great group to play with. I'm happy to do more. I also want to run one but I wouldn't be able to run one until late May...doing a lot of traveling for work, etc...
So if anyone is willing to GM and there's room....Olo is ready for more blood spilling!

If someone is cutting him open, let me know who.
This sounds like a job for Olo.
Getting Olomorn's attention Levistus' points at the Crocodile King's body, "I believe what we seek is in the aberrations stomach. Would you be so kind as to do the honors?" Levistus' covers his nose and mouth with a silk handkerchief he pulled out from somewhere but does not look away.

Yep, I'll just fill in the PA/Gold gained sections and the GM info at the bottom so you can print them out and fill in the rest yourselves. You might want to put your email into a spoiler to make it more difficult for spammers to get hold of.
I'm happy to run another in a little while, but I'd like to give Tambric a spin first.

"Hmmm...let's make sure we tried everything...."
Olo grunts and hacks the creature's head off with his ax. He then slices the creature's belly open and removes the guts and searches for anything of value. Olo has a thin smile as he goes about his grisly task. "My grandfather was a butcher...no patience for it myself," he says with a chuckle.

Slicing into the aberration's stomach, a wave of stench washes over the dwarf, but after a little rooting around, he finds a half digested chunk of troglodyte flesh, an emerald amulet carved into the shape of an eye, and a fairly large chunk of his own beard.
Olo chucks the amulet over his shoulder towards Levistus.
"Careful friend, I would hate for this damned thing to take over your mind and force me to cut off your head."
Olo holds the beard piece in his bloody hands for a moment...
"Rude bastard - it'll take me a month to grow that back," he grunts but then chuckles: "But I have your head for a souvenir! He, he, he...."
Olo gets to his feet. "By the forge! I could eat an entire pig! Let us be off and back to the lodge to eat!"

Caelwyn breathes deeply of the fresh air before turning to Thovar, "Well I do believe we have found our way out... Especially considering that young Maren is doubtless expecting us to return the amulet if we find it. Can't have that!" Caelwyn grins, taking another deep breath.
I might be willing to run the next module/whatever... but we'll have to discuss who has done what & etc. (not to mention recruit a replacement for our sneaky rogue!)

![]() |

a small voice in the back of your head speaks up, "No, I shouldn't smash the amulet or give it to that foolish venture-captain! I should keep it for myself and unlock it's power!"

![]() |

Calix:
With a deep frown, "We should be rid of the amulet swiftly and keep an eye on one another for suspicious behavior while we do it. It's.....occupant is still very much active and a threat."

![]() |

Saying both aloud and in his head, "Power?! What do you know of power? All I saw was a simple spell any acolyte could cast." Turning to his companions, "He's trying to convince me to put the amulet on. Let's take him to the venture-captain before he annoys me enough that I do something rash."

![]() |
Caelwyn comes back in to see what has become of half of the group, and hears one half of Levistus' stuggle. "Might I suggest that you place the amulet in a pouch of some sort? Touching an amulet of power and dubious morality with your bare hands might not be the best of ideas." He holds out his belt pouch, opened.

Olo smiles and nods in agreement: "What he said."

Caelwyn chuckles at Levistus' jibe while he pulls tight the strings on the pouch, careful not to touch what is inside, before securely reattaching it to his belt. Caelwyn indicates the other exit towards the sea, "It seems we have found our way out. As I mentioned to Thovar earlier, we might want to avoid seeing Maren again, considering he might request that we return the amulet. If Adril requests, we can come back later to inform Maren of our success... but by then the amulet will be safely 'disposed of.'"
