So, I love the show Triple D and I love hearing about new places to eat. So what is the best dive resturant that you can't get enough of?What is it about it that makes it so great, and wht do you love to eat there?
As an aside, I have often wondered if the Paizo crew has ever eaten at Mike's Chili Parlor or Slim's Last Chance Chili Shack in Seattle, both of which have been featured on Triple D.

Well, I don't eat there, because I like my arteries, but one of the places that my husband and son really like to eat was on that show. Crazy Jim's Blimpy Burgers.
Personally, my favorite little known place to eat is a little hole-in-the-wall Ethiopian restaurant in Ypsilanti called Red Sea. The hardest part about eating there is trying to decide what to get. The spicy lentils are a family fav.

In Bend, here are my following suggestions:
Diner/Drive-In: Pilot Butte Burgers. Love this place, a local institution. Has been around forever, and freakin' awesome burgers. And deep-fried mushrooms. And shakes.
Not-quite Dive: The Downtowner. Hole-in-the-wall (almost literally), best club sandwich in town, very generous portions.
Pub: Bend Brewing Company. My favorite place for an HSIOW. The BBC nachos are not to be missed and a single full plate can serve two easily.
Noodles! Soba Noodles. Love a good noodle place. I crave them. Really good and inexpensive.
Barbecue: Baldy's BBQ. The grill gods would be pleased with this place. Great food all around. The ribeye sandwich is yummy, but the smothered fries are worth the cholesterol count increase. (Fries, cheddar cheese, barbecued beef topped with sauce.)
Broke-and-need-to-eat-on-the-cheap: Longboard Louie's. I love this place. I can get a burrito or fajita that could deal lethal damage for under 8 bucks. Lots of fish and seafood dishes too. Borderline dive - this is a place for ski bums and snowboarders to fuel up after hittin' the slopes.

Okay, I guess I should have included my favorites. First off, there is Lupita's. It's a family run mexican joint that is still making the food the way they did in the old country. It's pretty established now, but in the beginning it was a dive in the truest sense of the word. They converted the living room and a bedroom of their house into the dining room and did the cooking in the kitchen and the other bedroom.
The other place went out of buisness after the owners divorce, but it was called Jade Dragon. First off, it was the best Chinese food in town, despite being owned by a Guatamalan family. They had a waiter that did magic tricks, the portions were huge, and they liked my kids.
Liking my kids goes a long way to winning my loyalty as a customer. The old man who owns Lupita's always asks me where my kids are if I don't bring them with me and my wife. That is thekind of thing I like in a family resturant.

Not many home town eateries left here in Clovis, but there are three that top the list.
Twin Croonies Drive-In - Just yummy. Their onions rings are the best I've ever eaten. There chesse sticks (corn meal battered cheese deepfried on a stick) are delicious. The hamburgers are juicy. And the footlong chilidogs are heaven
Guadalajara - Was the BEST mexican food ever! Unfortunatley when the son took over the business the quality went down and wound up closing it's doors.
Foxy's Drive-In - Another great place that has fallen on hard times. At one point this WAS the place to eat in Clovis. Going head to head with Twin Cronnies and always winning. Their hotdogs were yummy. They're best know for the taquitos though. Hot seasoned beef rolled in deepfried corn tortillas.
