DAVE ARENSON: -April 7th, 2009

yES, There was a few threads and even the old 3d6 roll in order thread was revived in his honor. Really a sad day for gaming

Its a real pity that someone didnt put Arneson and Gygax in a room, slap them round a bit, and get them to develop a functional Setting for the 4E. I think a three-novel Saga by these guys would have realy inspired the next generation of Gamers.

Thank God they didn't. Why should Gygax and Arneson have been forced to produce anything for a game that mocks their invention?

Spoiler:
That should get this thread moving ;)

So what you are saying is: They should have sat Gygax and Arneson in a room with a copy of the 4E Game and a Copy of the OD&D Game, beat them about the head a little, and let them cut from the 4E to fit it on an OD&D Character sheet and a Pair of 64 Page PHBs and DMGs with RED covers and Elmore Art?

Gygax didn't even like 3x. Why would he like a game even further removed from his vision?

And, Elmore covers are from the post-Gygax (late 1e/2e) era, for the most part. He did some work prior to Gygax getting run out, but he didn't become the (art) face of the game until the mid-80s...

So what you are saying is we should stick Frank Mentzer in a room with the 4E and a copy of the Red Box and slap him around a little with a rolled up Snarf magazine until he can fit 4E on a OD&D Character Sheet, and 64 page player manual and Dm Guide with Red cover and Elmore Art...?

Hmmm...OK! I'm sure I have that pitchfork somewhere in the back of the shed. Oh, right you mean by us rather than of us...oo! Fifty-fifty there.
