My Proudest Moment

Okay, so I just have to share this story with someone. Last weekend I took my son to a basketball clinic being put on by Antoine Carr and Thurle Bailey. My son loves basketball and so I thought getting some tips from some pros could help him out quite a bit. Anyway, before the clinic started the kids were shooting around and my son was shooting layups and three pointers.

As I was sitting there watching, an older gentleman came in an sat down by me. I knew he looked familiar, but couldn't quite place him. "Is that your kid," he asked pointing to my son. "Yes," I said. "He has a lot of talent," he replied, "make sure he keeps practicing." With that the guy got up and walked off. The clinic started and they announced that they had invited a special guest to come and speak to the kids. When they announce him, I couldn't believe it. They guy who had told me my son had a lot of talent was the special guest, Julius Erving. It was by far the proudest moment of my life.

That's great Dave. Really cool. I think it's awesome when sports legends like Irving provide encouragement to young folks, and to get a personal compliment should be really encouraging for your boy. He must have been excited.

Don't take it wrong, but wasn't the proudest moment of your life the birth of your son ?

Well the birth of my children does stand out as a proud momemnt. However, a wise man once told me that if the proudest moment you have with your children is the day they are born, then you haven't been a very good parent.
