So we are about halfway through the Rise of the Rune Lords book one. I have been meaning to post many adventure logs from my previous groups but really nothing seemed that great.
But now...we have a winner!!!
We play 95% 3.5 rules with a mix of Pathfinder and house stuff. We are not digging the power boost to Pathfinder, but the histories are amazing and help the campaign flow!! We use 3d6 eight times any order (best six) OR 4d6 any order.
I will post the PCs and later expand on their "adventure"!
Sieben the Poet
Human(Taldan) Male Bard 2
Str 9 Dex 13 Con 11 Int 15 Wis 7 Chr 17
Feats: Extra Music(human); Lingering Song(lv 1)
A very "foo foo" type of bard who uses his prestidigitation to keep clean and to impress the young lasses of Sandpoint, since he had to leave other towns in a huff.
Ton'ess Emik Raroth
Human(Tian) Male Monk 2
Str 12 Dex 13 Con 12 Int 13 Wis 14 Chr 11
Feats: Combat expertise(human); Toughness(lv 1); Improved Unarmed Strike (bonus monk 1); Stunning fist (bonus monk 1); Fiery Fist(bonus monk 2)
A monk dedicated to self perfection hoping to start a monastery near the area.
Happer "Hap" Willowtop
Halfling(Tallfellow) Male Druid 2
Str 11 Dex 18 Con 14 Int 11 Wis 17 Chr 9
Feats: Mounted Combat
Hap is a farmer who lost his farm to a goblin raiding party. He fled the farm with a few things and on his brixashulty(goat), Weathersby, to near-by Sandpoint.
Marshak Carvik
Human(Chelaxian) Male Sorcerer(Earth Elemental bloodline) 2
Str 8 Dex 13 Con 13 Int 13 Wis 4(yes really!) Chr 15
Feats: Spell Thematics(human); Spellcasting Prodigy(lv 1)
Marshak, a worshipper of Cayden Cailean, was actually dropped off in town unceremoniously by his previous adventuring band, after one too many accidental placement of his "rain of tankards"(hail of stone-spell thematics to look like a bunch of tankards smashing into a creature).
Ghaur'dan
Human(Shoanti) Male Ranger 1/Fighter 1
Str 15 Dex 15 Con 14 Int 13 Wis 9 Chr 9
Feats: Power Attack(human); Cleave(lv 1); Track(bonus ranger); Weapon Focus-greatsword(bonus fighter)
Ghaur'dan was tracking a bunch of goblins towards Sandpoint, but their tracks vanished as they headed toward the beach. Two days later he arrives in Sandpoint and discovers a raid on town by goblins.

Sieben the Poet arrived in town the day before the Festival. He got a feel for the town, even inquiring about getting a part at the Sandpoint Theater...performing oratories or possibly showing his talent on the flute. His main reason for coming to town was to make a name for himself as a performer and where better to do that than a town that was about ready to re-dedicate their temple? Sieben is a slim young man somewhat taller than most. His clothes are of fine cloth; his long blond hair trimmed and pulled back into a ponytail with a silver headband. Only the baldric and knives give any evidence that he has any skill in weaponry.
Ton'ess has been in town about 6 months. He received a vision (he believes from his god Irori) to come to the town of Sandpoint to help rebuild the church. He made his long journey from Absalom trading work for passage on ships to get to town. When he arrived the Abstalar Zantus welcomed him with open arms, setting him up with a cot and a warm meal at the church in return for his work. Ton'ess wasn't always a hard worker...he was forced into it. He came from a very well to do family but a run in with some bandits changed all that. Ton'ess barely escaped and after being in the wilds for a couple months, a church of Irori took him in and he dedicated himself to them. He doesn't look like a typical Tian, his blond hair and blue eyes seem to contrast most others of his kind. His short stature (5'6) and lean body make him a very capable warrior. He only carries a simple staff and two kamas, one of a dark metal and the other of silver. He wasn't seeking the life as an adventurer, but he knows that building a monastery will cost him.
Hap was familiar with the town of Sandpoint with his farm two days away to the northeast. Once every few months he would come into town for an item needed on his farm. He never really talked to people much, just get in and get out. He could never understand the thinking of city-folk and really he had no desire to try and understand. His farm was simple, two milk cows, a couple chickens, and his goat Weathersby, a brixashulty. One day, a few hours before dawn, he was awaken by the sound of screaming animals and a loud thump on his walls. Darting out of bed, he could see goblins dancing around his barn that they lit on fire. Grabbing his club, he ran out to meet them, killing two and causing the other two to run off back-up. Knowing his farm was half gone and his animals gone in the fire, except Weathersby, he packed up what he could and headed toward Sandpoint. Hap is a normal tallfellow halfling who loved his farm. Now he seeks the adventuring life so he can gain some funds and rebuild what he has lost.
Marshak has been in and out of towns like Sandpoint for years. He discovered his talent to freely cast magic as a youth, but his judgements as to when to use that magic has been lacking. His family kicked him out at an early age and he sought that his only way to make in in the world was to be with adventurers. He latched on with various groups, thinking he would make a great mascot with him barely 14. These groups soon regretted their choices as Marshak would cast his minor magics at the worst possible times....casting light when they were trying to sneak up on the enemy, using mage hand to lift things over open spaces like sewers only to drop them in the grates, etc. After awhile groups would sneak off in the middle of the night, pay him gold to go away, and the last group left him at the Sandpoint gates, tied and gagged. He has come to like Sandpoint, spending most of his time and his gold at the Pixie's Kitten and the Fatman's Feedbag. He can be found frequently sleeping the streets or a pig pen.

Day One: Night before the festival
Sieben the bard entered town earlier in the day to scout possible places for his performances at the festival and possibly at the inns and taverns. When he reached the White Deer, he spotted a curious sight. Two men and a halfling were sitting together enjoying ale. What surprised him most was that one human appeared to be dirty and a drunkard, the other human was a Tian with blonde hair and blue eyes, and the halfling looked to be some hick from the farmlands outside town. Everyone else in the inn appeared to be a local or a merchant of some type.
Sieben approached the trio and inquired about their stories. The halfling explained that his farm was raided and burned by goblins a day earlier and he fled to Sandpoint on the back of his goat, Weathersby. The Tian man explained that he received a vision to come to Sandpoint and be present for the ceremony. He had to work on ships for his passage and arrived in town nearly broke. The drunkard explained that he has been in town for a few months after being dumped here by his former adventuring group for casting spells at the wrong moment and whatnot.
Sieben took note of their stories but cared little for their stories and left for his room at the Rusty Dragon.
Day Two: The festival
Sieben picks out a nice spot in the area at dawn. He begins his stories and flute playing and the others enjoy the music as they begin to set up their booths and attend the festival itself. Hap and Ton’ess stand together to hear the speakers and sample all the free foods. Neither have any money to buy any of the wares as they try to enjoy themselves. Marshak shows up mid-morning hung over and already searching for another ale.
At dusk, the priest begins his speech when the goblins flood the area and attack. Townsfolk and merchants flee, leaving Hap, Ton’ess, Marshak, Sieben, and the priest in the area. Hap and Ton’ess stand in front of the priest to defend him as Sieben moved to higher ground, brandishing his light crossbow and singing an inspirational song of battle. Marshak stumbles his way toward Sieben and releases hails of tankards (i.e. hail of stone with spell thematic feat) with rays of acid shooting from his fingers in-between.
The group beats the first and second wave of goblins and moves the goblins killing Aldern’s dog. Hap and his goat rush the goblin commando knocking him back and killing the goblin leader. The other goblins try to flee, but Marshak’s magical tankards stop all but one, who is knocked-out and taken to the jail. Sieben interrogates all the captured goblins with promises of release if they help them, and the goblins readily agree, but Sieben has no power to do so and they all curse his name as the group leaves. The group rushes to the graveyard and find the sheriff and priest standing over the recent dug up grave. The sheriff asks the heroes to keep mum about the grave robbing as to not worry the townsfolk, who would probably start rumors of undead. [End session]
