I'm currently going to put something out for cuchulain but if no one offers to help, I'll pick it up.

Perfect! I would like to see more of your work!

I'm adding also a small Sketch development in the Sketch gallery.

Out of curiosity, on the sketch development, did you scan a portion at each stage of the drawing, or do you start a new drawing each time?

I'm trying to brush up my rusty art skills as well, but I'm feeling that the rust has set in pretty deep.

Its the same drawing. I scanned it while I was working on it. Try rusting off here! Its a great place and people here appreciates your stuff quite nicely.

Hop on board!

Sweet! Get out the steel wool to get rid of some of that rust.

Liberty's Edge

My gray Prisma has mysteriously vanished along with my brush markers, so I had to churn out this dreck on MM Fireworks. I'm not pleased with my work.

Sorry, Lilith.

Second pissed-off Mr. Shiny rant in ten minutes:

I am beyond frustrated. First off, I'm not a professional, and have had maybe two or three weeks of formal art training in my ENTIRE LIFE.

Second, my supplies and equipment are S*%%. I don't have the cash for a PC drawing tablet, the only markers I have are a set of half-dry Prismas (now missing the gray and peach ones) I got as a hand-me-down freebie, and my s%$#ty tech pens are dying like flies. Plus, I'm operating with Windows XP and an outdated version of Macromedia Fireworks.

Third, I have a marked propensity to bite off more than I can chew. "Sure, I'll color that piece drawn by a much more skilled artist than myself, and I'll have it done in two days." Bull. "Yeah, I'll do three commissions for some guy in a week, with time to spare." Total s+@#.

Who am I f#++ing kidding here?

Dude. I swear on my mother. Just yesterday morning while driving to work I was thinking of potential projects for which I could use your particular style. I can't say being an artist is an easy way to make money, but if you've got me trying to find a way to pay you for your work long after first seeing it, you must have something.

James O'Barr had no formal art training, and then he put out The Crow. Crack an art book or two, take a local class, invest in art supplies when you can and don't do what so many artists do... don't overthink it all. You draw because you're driven to draw. That doesn't mean you have to make it your life, but recognize that creators create and perhaps try and follow your own path faithfully and fearlessly.

You just got toad, beech.

All I've ever had, art training-wise, is a few years in high-school art (where they frown on "cartoons" as art), some advice on fundamentals from an actual cartoonist friend while quaffing beers on her porch, and a lot of free-time doodling. I'm using my roommate's laptop and scanner, some free software that came on the computer that I have absolutely no idea how to use properly, and the best pens five bucks and a pack of gum can buy. Hell, I used to use Sharpies "borrowed" from work. Still do, on some of my one-shot token minis.

Two months ago, I thought everything I put to paper was utter crap. Then my roommate took some photos of a rune giant I made, and the kindly folks here at the Paizo boards got to talking. Absolute strangers with no reason to say nice things so as not to hurt my feelings said nice things about my art. A guy in England, a country I have never been to nor will I ever be able to visit on my pay scale, offered me hard-earned cash to draw some miniatures for him. More people still seem to like the idea of playing their D&D games with 28mm-scale doodles I drew.

And I still feel undeserving.

Dude, we're artists. To us, every line we draw looks wrong. Every piece we finish needs "more work". The scans look awful, the poses are all wrong, the outfit isn't right.

It's all in our heads. Ignore the voice in you that says, "this blows." Listen to what the people outside our brain-box are buzzing about. There are people with half the talent you've got getting paid a liveable wage (or more) to draw. You can do it.

Take the compliments. Keep drawing. It's all good, baby.

"Whats the damned beeping sound, been driving me nuts ! Oh heh guess I need the check that more often"

now for what ya asked.
1> sure go ahead I had not thought of that but sounds cool love what ya did with the other guys so knock yourself out.

2. the scare runs over his left eye just above the eyebrow and down his cheek not huge or any thing just a long thin blade scare.[if ya ever seen a blade scare there not huge or jagged I have a few they tend to be small thin white lines more then anything

3.I was thinking arabian-like but you make the call on how ever you think it looks best

4.he owns a short bow and two kukri which he also uses. The khopesh is his weapon of choice but sometimes you need ranged or close in fighting as well. I can link pics to khopeshs if ya need be just let me know.

and again thanks for taking the time to draw our pc's for us. really appreciate it.

I'll make your kopesh more sickle-like. The one for Kessul was more -The Mummy- Kopesh. Also no to make the two of you look so alike!

here is what i had in my head draw it how ever ya like just however but refances never hurt here is a pair and this one has alot of info and many different styles and this one is what i had in my head

I like to collect links lol. besides I had some one tell me once it was nice when drawing to have different points of refance and styles so I figed it wouldn't hurt.

again Like I said draw it how ever ya feel fits best to you.

By all means, go ahead! It sounds obnoxious if I do it myself too much. :)

By the way, this seems as good a forum as any: if I were to do downloadable paper mini packs, what sort of stuff do people want? Remember: I can't use Paizo IP, like the look of their goblins or ogres and stuff, but what do people want in a batch of minis?

Oh, and Hugo--I did a drawing of your character last night before a massive migraine laid me low. I think it needs work, but the roommate likes it. I'll see if I can either A: whip up a better one, or B: fix this one up on the computer so it's "up to par."

Heh. "Needs work?" Not "up to par?" I know, I know, I'm not taking my own advice. Do as I say, not as I do.

Mmmm...though question if you won't use Paizo monsters... I would go for not-so-common-to find-minis monsters (like otyughs) or standard "legions" of common monster like D&D goblins, orcs, poodles, etc.

Sovereign Court Wayfinder, PaizoCon Founder

So, we are playing with the beta ruleset...but in a homebrew campaign setting.

This will give folks a chance to draw a new race...the Ihn.

My character is Xak, a dark ihn.

Presently, he wears black studded leather armor +1, uses a newly acquired dagger of quickness +1, which would be a short sword to him.
(It's described as: A curved blade with an ivory handle, a small ruby embedded on the pommel and a leather strap dangling a few inches below that whose purpose is unclear. The weapon almost seems to leap from belt or sheath to a waiting hand.)

He's also wearing Boots of Agile Leaping, unadorned black leather boots that come up to mid-calf, and his father's Ring of Stealth, made of hardened leather, the ring seems to blend into the finger it rests upon.

For now, I've been using an image of Airbender, the last Avatar, but sort of an anti-avatar...but with his eyes totally black. I'm curious what this group of excellent artists can do for Xak....

It's not really a matter of "won't" as in "don't want to", per se--I've been told by Paizo not to use their IP until they've gotten their Acceptable Use policy figured out. I'd love to do them, though--goblinoids, ogres, orcs, their unique look at demons--all that. so, uh... if anyone at Paizo's reading, and they know the proper protocol for getting license to do that stuff, point me in that direction and I'll fill out any and all forms necessary. :)

I was thinking of doing like a generic demon pack, possibly, and I've done some otyughs for CocT. And who wouldn't love a set of poodle-riding Smurfs? I just want to see what the Paizo gang would like, as they're the gang I know.

Paizonians represent!

I probably shouldn't, but I'll go for it. I'm sticking with black and white this time; I'm taking a break from color.

Heh. You just put an entire parody into my head. Now I'll end up spending several lunch breaks writing it out...

Here's a female character if anyone would like to try:

Farellon Aear Bereth

Half-elf ranger -- profession: Sailor (Andoran)
Long brown hair - loosely bound in pony tail, blue eyes, 6 feet tall

Blue cloak with hood, black tunic, black trousers, calf boots.
Leather armor.

She's a two-blade specialist - both longswords.

Thanks to whoever wishes to tackle it. :)

Fan art is one thing - art using someone else's IP for profit is something else entirely.

Shiny, if you want, ink your stuff as normal and I'll do a color job on it.

Dude, that is so close to my girlfriend's last PC that it almost hurts. She rolled with a breastplate, rapier, and bastard sword, however. If someone does some real art, I'll throw in a mini-sized piece.
