Tim Russert died of a heart attack. That sucks. He was a pretty good newsdude. R.I.P.

It's shocking. It's such a bizarre, mournful feeling... a fully functioning person you see a couple days ago just... gone. Just like that.

I remember 8 years ago when I first saw him live in New York. I was at a taping of Late Night with Consey...

My wife and I even now are watching the MSNBC coverage of this sad event. We are both speechless; he was our favorite pundit and seemed to know politics like no one else. It says something when you keep tearing up over the loss of someone you only know from watching television; but I can't seem to stop. I am saddened that he won't be here to see the end of this landmark election to see how it all turns out. And the fact that he has dedicated his life to his father and son; the fact that this happened on Father's Day weekend is like a cruel joke with a mean-spirited punchline.

He will be missed and can never be replaced.

Tim had such enthusiasm for politics. I loved the white boards at election time. He made politics feel like sports - and I say that in a very good way. I could not help but get into his political analysis. You will be missed Timmeh.

I remember the almost fiendish glee he had in his eyes during the 2000 election night coverage, once they figured out just how close the election was turning out to be. He was really fun to watch that night.

Now, I know he took a lot of flack over the years from media watchers that he was a bit too soft-ball on Meet the Press, particularly when some politicians (on both sides of the aisle) would come on and say things that were contrary to all reliable and available evidence or just non-sensical. But if you realized that his job on Meet the Press was to just get them on the record with their crazy statements in the first place, then he was doing a fine job.
