As you can see from the line above, I currently subscribe to Pathfinder and PF Chronicles; I also intend to subscribe to the PF Companion line, meaning I would only be one step away from being a 'Superscriber' - the PF modules. I love the Golarion setting, and I am eager to find out as much about it as possible, but I think it's unlikely I'll ever get chance to run these modules.
How much background info is included in the PF modules; are they worth buying for this info alone? Are the details provided very specific to the adventure? Do some modules have more significantly more info on the setting than others?

I only have the Darkmoon Vale adventures.
They tell you a fair bit about the vale, and the town of Falcons Hollow... but very little related to Varisia (they're geographically quite far apart), which is the location for the first three APs.
They also have interesting new monsters and magic items.
My first suggestion would be not to bother.
My second would be to find some more gaming time and sign up (i'd say they average 2 sessions per module, except for d0 which is a one-shot).
I prefer the second suggestion... :D

*nods* As said above, most of the Modules don't take place in Varisia. Three or four of them start in Falcon's Hollow and then the rest start in other places. The Falcon's Hollow adventures are very usable should you decide to start your own campaign and don't necessarily want a hole campaign setting, just a center for your adventuring.
Officially, Seven Swords of Sin and Conquest of the Bloodsworn Vale are the only Varisian adventures in the line right now. (Both of these take place closer to Crimson Throne's AP then Runelords.. but Seven Swords is close enough to Hook Mountains if I remember right that it could be made into a side quest. Bloodsworn Vale is the perfect Crimson Throne side quest if you ask me... with some tweaking. :) )
However, I've suggested to people in the past that the Hollow Mountains on the island in western varisian gulf could easily be modified to be the Falcon's Hollow Environs, thus making it a small boat trip across the Gulf to run Rise of the Runelords.
