Star Wars: The Clone Wars in theatres Aug 15th

Movies

Yup. There is going to be another Star Wars film in theatres...and it comes out this year.

The Clone Wars is an animated film. Its all done in CG and it looks fantastic IMHO.

After the movie hits theatres there will be The Clone Wars TV series on Cartoon Network. The series will pick up where the movie leaves off.

How does this new Clone Wars series tie in to the old 2-D animated Clone Wars that Cartoon Network aired a few years ago? Well Im not sure yet.

Here is the Trailer

And here is a mini documentary

What seems unclear is how the older cartoon series on the Clone Wars fits into this. Is the new stuff add-on to it? Does it replace the old? Are they simply retelling?

I'm curious.

I believe it's a continuation of the cartoon series.

Well the cartoon ended right at the beginning of Episode 3. I think the new series takes place after the movie, during the time of the Empire. Or its possible that its filling out the story further.

Edit: Upon watching the trailer, I'm going to go with the fleshing out part, seeing as Dooku and Grevious are in it.

I hope it doesnt override or re-write the old 2-D Clone Wars. Thats a bad idea. The old 2-D CL show was so good.

Asaaj Ventriss is in the 3-D Clone Wars (Dookus bald female aprentice), yet Dooku and her met in the 2-D series. This tells us it must take place after the old CW show.

However, the old 2-D CW ended with the opening of Episode 3. This tells us that it must take place before the old CW show.

So my assumption is that this new 3-D CW will take place durring and between events in the old 2-D CW.

Its supposed to take place after the cartoon and lead into episode III

maybe it takes place DURING the old clone war episodes. I doubt the original episodes filled in every single possible second of possible story.

Either way, it can't be much worse than the movies (because they were aweful) and hopefully, it'll be as good as the cartoon (because that was awesome).
