I don't recall who said it first on the forum, but "the plundering of my childhood continues."
A live action Speed Racer movie is currently filming, and just to add to the weirdness of it all, Matthew Fox (of LOST and PARTY OF FIVE) will be playing Racer X.
It's amazing how shameless Hollywood is about not having any original ideas. I'm sure a live-action version of the SMURFS is right around the bend!

I can't believe that. I used to serial dream I was Speed Racer's brother when I was three. Those were the nights.
Old news. Pops Racer is John Goodman. They are using a real chimp for Chim-Chim. They also have a Ma Racer (Speed's mom) in the cast. First time I think Speed's mom has even been mentioned.
