I've been a big fan of the Flash since Crisis on Infinite Earths. I was too young to collect the Barry Allen Flash, but did collect the entire Wally West run all the way to the end in #230. When Wally disappeared in Infinite Crisis, I was upset, but then they brought in Bart Allen as the new Flash.
At first, I was disappointed in the Bart Falsh title. I thought the writing sucked. Then they switched creative teams and the book improved. And what do they do?
But hey, at least it looks like Mark Waid is going to be scripting the new series. He was great on his Wally West run.

Word.
My nickname is Flash after ther great man hisself. I too am too young for Barry (although I do have one of his last issues), and have all but a handful here and there of the Wally West run.
I was literally stunned and the comic fell out of my hand when I read that Bart had died. I agree that the book itself wasn't one of the best, but they really did not have to kill Bart to start up the Wally run again... he was a great support Speedster.
Nice to see someone else out there with great taste in Heroes Aber =)

Oh and this is great news... the Mark Waid run of Wally's series really was one of the best writen periods in Comics.
As an aside, I have heard vague rumours of a Flash Movie Script being floated done by Mark Waid.
As an aside aside... do any of you guys remember the Flash TV series with John Wesley Shipp? Man it was corny, but it gave me my Flash fix (and continues to do so now that I have the box set)!

Tell me about it. I have all of Waid's Flash run, and more than a few of those issues signed by the man himself. He was at my local shop at the time, and not many folks showed up. So I brought the entire Born to Run story for signing, then went back home and got more. I'd have to look again to see how much I got signed.
And I do remember to TV show. It was horrible, but it did give us Mark Hammill as the Trickster and a really interesting time travel/alternate timeline story.

First off, I think somehow they wanted to maintain their "dead or missing hero" quotient after Infinite Crisis. I feel bad for Bart, he was a victim of a poor editorial decision more than anything.
Wally is back though, and he is my favorite Flash. That having been said, I will say this. I loved Mark Waid's run on the book, but sometimes when a writer comes back . . . well, look at any time Chris Clairmont or John Byrne went back to writing a book they left . . . all I'm saying.
