Issue #147 (Vanthus on Cover) spoilers kinda?

Savage Tide Adventure Path

I was seeing If there was an image up for the new Issue...NICE!!! Vanthus rocks! I couldn't help but notice some of the headlines like: Biggest critical threat ever "Demodragon"?, Bullywug Lich and Shadow Demons. I just started making up a Shadow Demon named "Simiax" who has been orchestrating Demogorgon's plan In my version of Savage Tide. He Is a corruptor Demon and Demogorgon has changed His normal appearance to that of a wickedly evil baboon made of abyssal chaos and shadow. How effin scary would that be to see a large shadowy baboon In your room as you wake up In the middle of the night and as you take action he makes the room go pitch black and rips you limb from limb. I had a bad experience with a baboon pack as a child.(Baboons, spiders and clowns oh my)

Holy crap, what a cover!

Is there any other Vanthus art in this issue?

Well I had issue 105 with Warduke as my favorite cover. Now I must concede that 147 TOTALLY KICKS A$$!!!

Damn you, Paizo!! You cruel, heartless dogs!! Just pulled 147 outta the mailbox, and once again, after just a brief flip through, I'm going to have to hide the issue from myself for the months it will take for me to get my STAP campaign to that point!

S'Sharra - Tyralandi now has serious competition in the "sexy demon chick" category.

Lavinia - I've got a PC or two that are gonna be pissed when I break out that picture.

Vanthus - I don't know if I like his cover pic or his interior pic better

There is!

I'd already spoken a bit on my intent to keep Vanthus non-fiended for the showdown on Farshore and then welcoming him back as a Death Knight for the encore, but dammit!! How can I NOT use this picture? I'm still not a big fan of the scaly, bat-winged, generic-fiend image of Vanthus, but if I don't go there, I can't use this illustration.

My new plan is to have Vanthus appear on Farshore looking pretty normal up until the party thinks they killed him. Maybe I'll just tracking HP loss during the battle normally and then, when the party gets in that last blow, cutlass up to the hilt through his gut, and staring him in the 0hp face, he'll just laugh it off as the players discover he'd had damage resistance the whole time. Some tearing off of human skin later and he's on the offensive again with all his fiendish glory for the world to see.

In any case, this isn't the first time the awesome production value has derailed my plans for altering a Dungeon adventure. Punks.

I live to serve!

(Checks off "Derail Fletch's plans" from The List.)

Dark Archive

you should have had the cover artist, Marc Sasso, do the art for the adventure too.
