Gauntlet...err driving gloves?...thrown down

Other RPGs

At the close of our latest campaign (Galin runs The World) one of the players suggested his druthers for a new campaign, and while I have some ideas of what shape this might take I'm interested to see what gold all of you can spin outta' this:

A modern campaign, current era but with 70's action cop show overtones (stuff like Dirty Harry, Death Wish, Starsky and Hutch, and newer stuff like the Quinton Terrantino movies as references).

His character is going to be a grizzled, hardboiled cop with a big Fast & The Furious style muscle car. Another player has come in with a character who's this big huge irish bear of a man, who's normally gentle and good company, but who can cross the lines when his personal sense of right and wrong has been violated.

So that's what we've got. No noir, no John Woo. So what would you all make of this? I've got some ideas of my own that I'm tinkering with, but I'd like some fresh ideas that don't come from me if you all have any...

Liberty's Edge

I always liked the idea of werewoofs and vampires involved in car/motorcycle chases, since the inevitable crashes wouldn't do anything permanent to either of them....
Of course, I don't see your backstory necessarily involving fantasy fare.

Liberty's Edge

Also, a mob war between Russian mafia former super soldiers(chemically altered physical ultra warriors) and Russian mafia psychic ops (psionic super soldiers) might be cool.

The constraints have been given as pretty real world stuff, so car and motorcycle chases and the Russian mob are definite usables, but vampires and supersoldiers are out. I need to make a game that's pretty much entirely 70's cop movie style action--sans the hot chick with a machine gun leg.
