Ptolus modules?

How about a Paizo P series of modules for the Ptolus setting?

Man, this news has my mind working overtime on hopes for Paizo's future product lines. Ptolus modules would be cool.

Seconded!
Even a PDF edition or something like a subsection of Gamemastery modules would be great, though I hope the licensing of Ptolus wouldn't be prohibatively expensive.

Liberty's Edge

OMG - this would bring Paizo even more of my money!

Well the "U" series might fit into Ptolus, but having the Church of Lothian already built in would be even better.

Make this another plea for PAIZO written Ptolus adventure modules!

I'll add my voice to the cry!

I'm in...though I can't imagine anyone ever matching the greatness of The Banewarrens.

I'd be all for it! Bring on the Ptolus goodness :]

I would be very interested in this.

Paizo should definitely contact Monte about it!!

Here's another vote.

Please don't do this. It will lead to my bankruptcy and divorce.

Okay, do it anyway.

I intend to stick all the U modules into Ptolus, but I agree with the others: Having Lothian and the Tarsisian Empire, etc., in the module to begin with (along with gunpowder) would really be the icing on the cake.

I'm in.

I'm in too.

Absolutely!!!

Can I vote twice?

Ehh, who needs money...Count me in for anything Paizo does Ptolus style.

Grand Lodge

you guys are gonna bankrupt me if you do this... *sigh* looks like I may need a second or third job now...

With everything happening now, I hope Paizo will take this idea seriously- with all the IP being reeled back into Wizards and the 4th ed talk in neighbouring posts sounding like D&D is being trussed into a WoW girdle and forced sell itself in a diminished, dumbed-down form, it would behoove all independents to look to consolidate and ally themselves to maximize effectiveness.
Ptolus is a fantastic product and deserves to be more widely expanded upon- indeed, it could become the defacto replacement for Greyhawk amongst those who won't tow the Party line.

I'm just getting comfortable with 3.5, but if this corporate nonsense guts the game, I'm going back to Runequest and Rolemaster.

Any comments from the Paizo crew?

Make that a third vote!

(Annoying? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely!)

This would rock.

Erik, you played in Ptolus!
It's great, isn't it?!
Please go ahead and think about this.
Damn, just tell us you think about it (if it's true or not!) ;)

This is a wonderful idea. More of anything Ptolus would be great.

Dark Archive

I would definitely purchase any Ptolus module that would be published by Paizo and approved by Monte.

Hell, I would love to write some of them!

Liberty's Edge

All right, I admit I am a lurker but the very idea of Ptolus material produced by Paizo is enough to bring me out of it.

Make this another vote/hope/wish that Paizo would produce modules set in Ptolus.

I would totally be in for that...

Any chance we could get a reply from the Paizo crew? Even a "We're not interested" or "We're not sure at this point" would be appreciated.

Please none of the "We've got a plan but we're NDA'd up the whazzu" comments! ;)

Hey y'all:

Right now we don't have any plans for Ptolus modules, though that could change. Right now, we are just trying to keep our heads above water doing two jobs at once: finishing off the magazine run and getting the modules and Pathfinder ready to take their place. I will make sure this is thrown out when we start talking about 2008, though no promises. :)

Liberty's Edge

Thanx, Lisa!
Until then I should've finished my Ptolus campaign and will be eagerly awayting any news on this topic! Be sure I'll remember you about it! ;)

Great! I preordered the _Ptolus_ set last summer, but had no intentions of using it until my group finished "Savage Tide" (hmmm...should that title count as a book and be underlined, or is it a shorter work?...). I got caught up in a conversation with my players the other day and ended up passing around the player's guides (you get 10 in the set); now it's all they talk about! With the adventures that came with the set, there's probably at least six months to a year of premade fun on hand, but I have the feeling _Ptolus_ isn't getting the attention it really deserves: so, the point of this long and rambling post--Paizo Ptolus modules, if you please. I, also, cast my vote: yea.

Liberty's Edge

Yes, while checking all boards on the net, I got the feeling that Ptolus does indeed not get the attention it should get! This thing is a blast, and my players loved it from the first session on...

Please count me in for a Ptolus module. :)

I understand the workload, Lisa, though I gotta say: reading this COULD happen just made my day. Make it my week instead!

Please tell us when the workload becomes more manageable. I'd like to submit some ideas when the time comes. Thanks again!

One thing that would help to prove there's an audience for this (despite the impressive showing in this thread) would be to buy a bunch of our Ptolus miniatures. They could use the help. :)

If it would seriously make a difference, I will tack some on to my next order.

The reason I've not bought any before is twofold. Most of them, while representing specific Ptolus characters or character types, can easilly be represented by minis I have. Also, I have several miniatures that I keep meaning to get around to painting but never do. I've been suckered by the prepaints.

OTOH, I don't have any fantasy miniatures with guns, and my party are probably going to have some Shuul encounters soon. Plus, I've been using cat-people and a modified Orc Raider as Litorians, and it would be nice to have a better one.

And actually, one of my PCs was a goggle-wearing, gun-toting Dwarf, until he tried to wrestle with a Rhodintor. I really should have got a better mini for him than the dwarf artificer.

So now I'm gonna turn this around on you: I'd bet that if you made modules that featured the characters you have minis for, more people would buy them. Mind you, I'm sure you know better whether that's true. Does featuring miniatures for your APs help sales?

I just think I would never use a minotaur cleric mini, much as it is a cool one. But if I knew there were going to be a few in an adventure I was running... well, that changes things, doesn't it?

One thing I'd like to say about the Ptolus miniatures: there's one important feature that no one really talks about - The Ptolus (and Game Mastery/Compleat Encounters) miniatures have a metal base that is basically part of the miniature itself. It's molded with it. There's no gluing, no special (and potentially fragile) manipulation required with these guys.

If like me you just don't like gluing miniatures on their bases and are never quite satisfied with the process, think about this. Add some great sculpts with lots of volume to work with, and Ptolus miniatures definitely are for you!

I will continue the idea that 'even the possibility of this' really made my Friday afternoon. I've got a bunch of Ptolus minis (all of 'em once over & few dupes) but you can never have to many cultists or chaos techs!!

I'm moving in 2 weeks so I am going to wait till I'm in the new place, one less thing to pack and move is very nice.

You're a funnsy guy Eric. Nice plug. If you check out my order history, you will see that I have ordered a round of minis a while back; now I'm off to a second round! I need 4 Chaos Cult dudes, a couple of Sisters...yadayada. Anyway, they're in my cart along with some other purchases I want to make.

Now, the sour note. I don't want to use a master card or visa (personal reasons). I want to use my amex card or at the very least my paypal account. So, Paizo...I want to make the purchases here, how can you help me make it happen?

More mini purchases...a book; long time supporter and more so than ever now. C'mon...I want to help...now help me. Pleeeeease.

Oh yea...I second, third...whatever the motion. If I may offer a chant: Ptolus..Potlus...Ptolus...Ptolus! Ah...Paizo that is a DC 25 save verus WILL!

Where the heck do you think my screen name came from anyway. ; )

Liberty's Edge

Yes, I too would like to use my American Express here.

If they were painted, I'd buy them all. I still have a shoebox somewhere full of half-painted Ral Partha minis...there's this little problem with skill and my lack therof...

What he said. I suck at painting. I'm a good DM, but I suck at painting.

I'd buy multiples of every Ptolus mini if they were painted and I would CERTAINLY buy Ptolus modules.

Why not simply do the module as a pdf only? That would keep costs down and profits up, yes?

Liberty's Edge

What if some of the paintfiends at Paizo painted the minis? I'd be willing to pay much more for a painted pewter mini...not to mention the cool points I'd earn just for being able to say, "James Jacobs painted that one; and the Iron Mage, that's a Mike McArtor original; Sutter painted the Chaos Cultist..."

Why, I can feel the jealousy as I speak...

Héhé. Thanks!

Now, here's a picture of various painted Paizo miniatures, including Game Mastery and Ptolus minis, as a treat for the eyes:
