I was writing up a Prayer to Wee Jas, a funeral prayer that could be either spoken by the dying or, with a slight variation, spoken to one dying, when I thought that this is one area I have not seen good fan work on. That is I have not seen many published prayers to different Gods and Goddesses. So I figured I would put the word out and see what others have written or could write up for different deities. Perhaps a prayer for the dead by a priest of Moradin, or Nerull could be interesting, or the Wedding Blessing of Obad-Hai or Farhalagn.
Anyhow here is what I wrote. Lets see some others, eh?
Spoken by a dying man or woman:
“See Dark-Eyed Lady,
Speak Queen of Ruby,
Ask Witch on High,
For Time is Nigh,
This Body Wither,
This Mind Hither,
Across the Plains Glacial,
Open the Gates Palatial,
My Spirit to Burn,
Your Vision so Stern,
Count Another Soul,
I will pay whatever Toll,
To live with a moment thus,
In Aged Occanthus.”
Spoken over a dying man or woman:
“See the Dark-Eyed Lady,
Speak of Queen of Ruby,
Ask the Witch on High,
For the Time is Nigh,
This Body Withered,
This Mind goes Hither,
Across the Plains Glacial,
Open the Gates Palatial,
This Spirit to Burn,
Your Vision so Stern,
Count Another Soul,
They will pay whatever Toll,
To live with a moment thus,
In Aged Occanthus.”
There you go.
