Farshore swells! (Spoilers)

Savage Tide Adventure Path

In my game, my PCs have been doing a very good job of diplomacy with just about everything that can talk to them. Due to some exceptional rolls during Tides of Dread, they accidentally accquired about 100 phanatons for Farshore's population. (The phanaton elder liked the PCs so much he decided to send enough warriors and their families to set up a permanent garrison.)

In Lightless Depths, the PCs offered the Mongrelfolk the opportunity to come live at Farshore, and are even working out a way for the Mongrelfolk to live and eventually own the gemstone mines.

I also have a feeling that when they get to City of Broken Idols, they may do the same with Noltus's Pelorian Lizardfolk. And at the rate their going, this will be before Amelia gets back with the first load of new colonists!

Does anyone have any interesting ideas, reccomendations, suggestions, or what have you regarding this unique and interesting situation my players have given me?

why not settle thanaclan too?

I think your players have just earned themselves surveying duty. Let them go explore the other surrounding islands. If they find one that looks like it would work out for crops and habitation, they could even use some of their non-combat related skills to help set up the foundations of a new settlement. Heck, they may even get it named after them!

If they like combat as much as they like talking to junk, they should have their hands full clearing their island of choice of whatever nasty things have already taken up residence there.

The descriptions of the Isle of Dread and the surrounding islets in #143 is full of this kind of stuff. This can lead to as many side adventures between the big ones as you as the DM are willing to run. I'm just happy to hear that there's a group out there that is set up to actually make use of the extra material in Tides of Dread.

I was wondering how the Mongrelfolk would adapt to life outside of the caves because of their previous isolation from the life on the island.

The fine and upright citizens of Farshore and the Meravanchi family might see them as a lesser people group and decide it would be really nice to have them work the fields.

Yeah, Meravanchi senior would try just that, but he lost the election. And he's loosing money too. Meravanchi junior ended up, despite his annoying behavior, eventually becoming a good guy under the tutelage of the party Sorceror. He even campaigned for Lavina, against his uncle; sort of a "be on the winning side" mentality, but it opened up doors for him.

Currently the Meravanchi's are experiencing something akin to the Luthor family from Smallville. A lot of hidden hostility and behind the scenes backstabbing, but nothing outright hostile. So far, with the PCs occasional aid, Avner has been doing a bit better than Manthalay, who has been loosing money on "fruitless endeavors". The Jade Ravens had been working for Manthalay, after being ignored by Lavina, but the PCs have some ground work for getting them back, or at least getting them away from Manthalay.

I was thinking of having Emerald Island as the home for a new colony for people who did not fit in Farshore, since it has been recently deserted by the pirates that lived there. The Mongrelfolk could mine while living underground or something along those lines.
