I haven't even started my STAP campaign but I'm already very excited about all the ties it has to the full history of D&D. From the Isle of Dread to Tamoachan, it's got buckets of references to the classics.
In fact, I'm going to add even more nods by replacing Sasserine with Saltmarsh (from the DMGII). I expect a huge amount of player investment from the get-go when they start off in such a fond and favored D&D city.
Another idea I had for showcasing the D&D history is by turning the Jade Ravens into the iconic characters from the PHB. Does anybody have any thoughts on what the player reactions will be to encountering (and out-doing) Hennet, Regdar and the like.
And as long as we're making this AP a tour of the game's classic locations, can someone fill me in a little bit more on the Shrine of Tamoachan? I don't have the original module and I was wondering if it was worth getting to flesh out the location in The Sea Wyvern's Wake. I'd like to be at least able to describe the setting around the ruins to my group as they approach the opening to the ziggurat.
