The End of Big Jake's AoW Campaign

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

Well, after a year of running my campaign, I've had to call it to an early end... or at least on hiatus. I'll be leaving for Iraq in a few weeks for a 6-month deployment.

But I figure with a laptop and a six-month time frame I can run a quick campaign while I'm over there. I'm planning on taking the Shackled City Hardcover and the core rule books just to keep the packing simple. I'm also torn about running another Age of Worms campaign, but I think I'd rather travel with just the one book vice the 12 magazines.

My other RPG goal is to set up some events for this year's World Wide D&D Game Day, assuming they'll do it again. I ran a table two years ago in Korea, and a table last year in California, so now I can try to extend my streak to a third continent in three years.

So, I'll be away from home, but not from the message boards. I guess it's time to get out my notes from my previous two SCAP campaigns.

Scarab Sages

Keep your stick on the ice and stay safe! (now, as to where you're gonna find ice in Iraq...)

Keep that streak alive, Big Jake.

Best of luck to you, stay safe and good gaming!!

You guys are the REAL super-heroes... Good luck and come back in one piecs!

Big Jake--May your patron deity protect you while you're there! Hope you'll be back in 6 to pick up AoW where you left off.

I also offer best wishes on the world game day gambit--though (hate to bust your bubble) most conventional geographers place both Korea and Iraq in the Asian continent. (If it's any consolation, many of us who do "Asian Studies" in an academic way have been doing our best to demolish the concept of "Asia" as a coherent geographical unit--about all Iraq and Korea have in common, after all, is, well, both places are inhabited by human beings and have large garrisons of American soldiers stationed there. So I suppose you could claim three different continents, if you want to).

Stay safe!

I hope that you will come back safe and sound. Keep us informed how you are doing if possible.

Stefan

Thanks, guys.

So... Korea and Iraq *are* on the same continent. I didn't even really think about it. In the military they fall under different geographical areas of command, and I just pretty much keep them separated in my mind that way.

Oh well. At least it's three countries in three years.

I sure hope that I'll have enough time to game and update on the messageboards, but busy enough that the six months go by quickly.

Yep! I've been chopped to both PACOM and CENTCOM, too. (Many years back, during our previous adventure over there). Just a different way of slicing up the globe. I must say, though, that Korea's a lot more fun than any of the places I went in the Gulf. Oh well, guess it wouldn't be duty if it was always pleasant.
