Tome of Fiends

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

I've created a Tome of Fiends fo those who want fiends in their game, or who want to play fiends, or who want to adventure in the Lower Planes.

I hope you enjoy it. The link is here: Tome of Fiends

Scarab Sages

Thanks for this; I haven't had time to read it properly, but you deserve some kind of prize for the sheer size of this; do you ever sleep?

I liked the critique of the Good/Evil, Law/Chaos divide.
Very funny, but also true.
I hate the players who choose a Chaotic alignment just so they can jerk around, and then expect free xps for their so-called 'role-playing'.
Or the ones who pick and choose when their 'random, insane' behaviour kicks in, and who become clear-headed metagamers if their PC is in actual danger.
Or the ones who pick True Neutral, since it lets them get away with not having a personality. That's not a character, it's a playing piece in a logic problem.

The problem is exacerbated by the fact that unless a character is a cleric/paladin/favoured soul etc, there is ABOLUTELY NO REASON to pick a side, except in the rare case of needing to use intelligent, aligned items. In fact you are better off being a wishy-washy undecided/'don't know' personality. You take no extra damage from aligned weapons, you can't be Detected, or affected negatively by Protection from X/Magic Circle vs X, yet you can benefit from all the above.
That just seems plain wrong to me.
If I thought I could get away with it, I'd veto any attempt to use such abilities/items unless one had 'nailed their colours to the mast' of the appropriate alignment. You can hardly detect the enemies of Good if you can't even decide where you stand on the issues. Maybe that guy's good, maybe he's evil. How would you know?
...or...
You call on the powers of Good to ward off the minions of Evil. There is a disappointing 'Phffthh'; the vampire grins and steps into your circle. "You know, you really shouldn't have shouted your mouth off in the town square that the clerics of Pelor were corrupt...".

Liberty's Edge

Its....'sniff'....beautiful.

I'm glad the response has been positive.
