Average income of a Dungeon reader:

(this is based on the average age thread)

I make $55K a year.

I think I could (could have) made more, but I spend too much time gaming.

Heh... I read a similar thread on a different message board about: "What kind of car do you drive?"

It was amazing how many "average" people on the board had Mercedes, and Lexuses, and Denalis, and Escalades... blah blah blah.

Methinks not everyone is going to reveal their "true" income.

$52/k (humble public servant)...great health insurance though...luckily my wife makes more than I do.

Yeah, I was about to post on the average education thread and ask what was next, average income, but it looks like the thunder was stolen from that particular post.

Now all we need is 'what would your stats be as a D&D character thread' or a 'what's your average IQ' thread.

For the record:
I have 4 PHD's (Astronomy, Sociology, Engineering and Cranky Bastardology).
I make 6.8 trillion pesos each year.
I don't drive a car, but my driver takes me places in my limo.
My IQ is 6 figures.
I have all 18's in my stats, except for my 75 Intelligence (see above.)

Do I win?

My average IQ is 100... does it vary from person to person? I suppose if you denied the existance of a large segment of the population, that could skew the average from your point of view... hmmm.

My stats would be: STR 12 DEX 8 CON 14 INT 15 WIS 13 CHA 10

I'm all elite n' stuff. ;)

I make about 27,500$ a year, but I actually love my job and only have minimal amount of b$$&#%&@ to deal with.

Oh yeah, and I drive the bookmobile, which is waaay cooler than any friggin Escalade.

Do food stamps count?

See, I took some Cranky Bastardology electives at my undergrad, but I didn't think I could commit to it as a career. So I content myself being part of an avocational Cranky Bastardology group (extreme liberal living in Texas).

As for my income...I'm an archaeologist/curator...I do what I do for love, not money. Oh, and for punching the Nazis.

As a family my wife and I pull in around 30k in a minimal year, of which I provide around 1/10 of the income through my writing.

Freakin' German taxation level. How can their State even dare to run a deficit?

£22,000. Public servant. Get paid for looking busy and making lots of tea.

I drive a Hyundai.

But I'm mortgage free on my home so it's all mine! So really I can do what I want now I suppose.

I work for the City of New York!!! which means I can't really afford to live in the City of New York and at some point I'll either have to change my job or move to New Jersey.

$35k/yr as a State Employee of Florida...below avg. for IT, but not bad overall.

I'm looking at a nice promotion in a few weeks, though :-)

About $32K. I work at a non-profit in semi-rural California. Our agency pay scale is pretty competative with non-profits of like size, so I'm happy.

I'm very under-equiped for a character of my level. When I was made, I asked how many stats do I get to make my character. I was told at creation that the campaign called "life" would be very challenging, so I only got 20 points to distribute at creation. I also am restricted to NPC classes to boot.

If I could be like Mike.....*sigh*

I make less than that. ;-)

I like the offshoot posted above... what would my ability scores be?

I own a two diffent businesses that are both successful. I've never agreed that money won't buy you happiness but I have yet to reach an amount that actually put a spring in my step. Seems the bigger my earnings, the bigger my nut to crack.

I have enough collections. I have enough nice things. This last gift giving season people asked me what I wanted.

"I want to finish the two books I'm writing and mix the album I recorded last year. I want my motivation back. I want to be a better person."

Can you believe no one got that for me?! No one! I got DVDs instead. Good ones though.

I wish I could say I work for the love of my work/job, but I am much too mercenary. I make $75K. My hubbie loves his job and so he makes less. Any one make a ton of cash and love their job?

Not enough.

About 60K a year. I love working for the Military

My average earnings per year are $0.00. I'm a stay-at-home father. The wife and I decided not to subject the kids to the Daycare of Doom. Luckily, I made way less than her:) The Wifey makes @80k a year so it was an easy transition.

Between 30 000 and 40 000.

My current job is relatively stress free, and it gives me time to make some preperations for my gaming sessions. And it also gives me time to write to you guys!!

About twice the average for the city I live in? Numbers are kind of meaningless, as $70k in Manhattan is practically living in poverty while it may be a princely sum in Boise, Idaho. I don't know the purchasing power of various regions, I just know that I can't afford most of the houses in this city on my "amazing" salary. YMMV.

Also, I love filling out meaningless surveys. Something about statistics... :)

Who's collecting all this data anyway?

Krypter wrote:

The NSA I think.

$40k as a small engine mechanic (mowers, chainsaws, etc)

Paying a mortgage and just bought a new Wrangler Unlimited.

luckily, wifey makes just a little more than me.

You're a lucky dude!! I wish I could do that--my wife makes more than me, but we need my health insurance, plus I have only 6 years to go before I can collect my (first) public sector pension!

Feeling your pain Krypter.

I live next door in Connecticut where between us my wife and I make about 90K a year and are just barely scraping the "Lower Middle Class" sector. (I'll let everyone speculate as to which of us makes more $)

To answer your question, I'm sure the Dungeon staff are worridly chewing thier nails at all the low incomes that are being posted! :-)

No need to fear guys, my subscription's paid up!

Yes, I love my jab and I'm self-employed: the more I'm willing to work, the more I make. This year I'll gross about $300k, with $150k in expenses (travel and subcontracting some IT work). Then Uncle Sam will take a third or so of what's left. :( Oh, and health insurance is $700/month (ouch!).

I teach very technical Unix and/or programming topics on-site to corporate customers. That means 2 weeks a month away from Tampa/FL (not so good), but when I'm not traveling I'm at home 24/7 (really good). My wife was a branch manager for a large bank, tried real estate but didn't like it, worked as an interior decorator for a year or more, and has now given all that up settled in as my accounting manager. Her business card says, "V.P. of Domestic Affairs". Mine only says "Owner". ;)

$17K a year. I spend roughly $150 a month on Rpgs. Is the thread starter an I.R.S. agent or something?

Oh, yeah. Gotta love punching the Nazis while on the clock. ;D

I'm at $50k working as a technical writer in the oil and gas industry in Texas. I drive a VW New Beetle with the turbo option. Zip! Zip! Zooooom!!

Now if only I could get all these other people off my roads...

Well, with allowence and a weekly babysitting job, I make 45 a week. Not bad if I do say so myself....

The age old exchange - time vs money. Tensor, my dear, I have more than my fair share of income but I never get to play...who is the richer?

$45 million for each adventure that gets published. Don't let this "economics of publishing" story we hear from the Paizo guys fool you. We're all getting filthy rich off of you. Mwahahahaha!

should be over 60K with overtime this year. I about fell out of my chair when they offered me OT on top of my salary. I'm very happy as its the first "real" job in my field and only 4 months into my career. Nowhere to go but up. Wife is a teacher and brings in about 34k but has great insurance. We use hers. I drive a Mustang and her a Kia. I hate the Mustang as its bad in Michigan winters. We're looking into a pair of small SUV's just to deal with snow.

LUCKY BUGGER! Man, I'd love a rich wife. (Sighs) Still, my girlfriend has two boyfriends, which splits the cost at least.

I make about £60k (that's pounds sterling to you colonials) but the cost of living is higher in the UK. I drive a Honda Civic.

"economics of publishing"? Well, Anna Wintour makes $2 million a year and she only edits one magazine, so Erik must make at least 4, and allowing for economies of scale and complementary markets probably more! ;)

$7,200/year.

Disability is a real kick in the junk. For obvious reasons I don't drive.

I'm so jealous! That was my wife's and mine's plan when she was pregnant last year. I was working out of the house and making about $24K and working less that 20 hours a week. She was making the real goods, but someone went and offered me a job making over $31K a year managing an office and like an idiot I took it.

Now she's going part time and gets to have the part-time stay at home fun.
::grumble, grumble, grumble::

Being a college student I make about nothing, but I do get $1200 in spending cash a year approximately...

The household makes around $20k, which in the area we live is decently above poverty level for sure, but not enough to be able to buy every new source book the day it comes out, we still have to save up a bit. But once I finish college a complete set of mini paints, a few dozen new mini's, some more knitting yarn and a new brush WILL BE MINE!

Not to mention the reason we don't make a huge income is because I'm in college studying to be an accountant, so the number should change. Math is great, but D&D math broke my math professors brain. She likes her set of dice I got her after she kept asking to borrow mine (she rolls a dice to see if she collects homework), but she calls them strange names like Octahedrons and such.

I wish, that is part of the hope/idea later on maybe... part time working mom and stay at home Dad/full-time D&D junkie would be great.

Liberty's Edge

Well I quit my 55K a year job running a national chain restaurant. I took a 33K a year job in customer service manager for a cellular company just so I could spend more time playing D&D and such. I am infinitely happier as the stress level has dropped. I recommend it if you can get away with it. Oh and I drive a windstar its old but it’s paid for and for fun I have a little red 85 Fiat x19 that is fun to drive

Liberty's Edge

I'm not trying to brag....but here goes. I'm a nuclear medicine technologist. Our median income in the U.S.A. is about $29 an hour. That equals out to be around $60k a year, before Uncle Sam takes his cut. To be a nuclear medicine tech, you do about 1.5-2 years college prerequisites, then you do about a 2-year didactic/clinical program. There are universities that have these programs, and also community colleges. I inject people with radionuclides and image them with special cameras that detect radiation. If anyone out there is interested in a decent paying career (you'll never be a millionare, but you'll eat well) give nuclear medicine a look, or radiologic (x-ray) technologist, or ultrasound technologist. It can be stressful, but it's a job where you help people, and you actually get paid a pretty decent salary.

hehe I guess I do around 50k; it fluctuates; my wife could make a whole lot; probably a lot more, but I am not sure if she is lazy or wants to just be a mom (I dont grief her about it)

I have lots and lots of schooling; 3 degrees; other certificates; sheesh; good to be working finally. Tested IQ at 147.

My group has been toying with the idea of us a players for years; would be a cool thread, its hard to really compare skills though.

Valegrim - Paladin 3, Monk 9, Ranger 5
Str 12
Dex 16
Con 12
Wis 18
Int 15
Char 15

-6 to all math skills or no minus if given extensive time allotment. Bonus to int and wis for age figured already figured in; Feats; weapon focus staff, nunchuk, broadsword; two handed sword, natural, style sword and sheild; Heavy Armor, -4 spot unless wearing glasses.

Dude, my group and I did that about two times. The first was in high school, the second in college. We used to joke that the only reason so many of us went in the army was to beef our characters up for starting ability. We used the palladium/rifts/beyond the supernatural rpg system, then the gm would end the world in a great cataclysm and the Rifts would open....fun stuff.

I'm pretty close to Tensor.

I run restaurants, so apparently my IQ can't be that high. . .huh?

woo hoo! Just got my tax return..

What should I buy from paizo?? :>

120k a year, which after tax doesn't seem to go as far as you would think.

most of my disposable income seems to be wasted on pizza, wotc hardcover books and the latest computer game, and oh yeah, a gym membership to work off all those pizza's.
