Eberron Campaign- Suggestionsfor boss monster

Campaign Journals

I am running an Eberron campaign with five players. (It's my first time DMing, i'm kind of nervous...) In the campaign they are going to go on missions for Morgrave University and eventually unleash demons from Khyber and be part of a giant war between Dragons and Demons. Anyway, I'm planning on having the final battle be the PCs versus the dragon Khyber (weilding a bunch of ultra-sweet artifacts). The characters are planning on going epic, so I'm planning on making Khyber around the same strength as Asmodeus (CR 32, Book of Vile Darkness). Anyway, I've never created a monster before, and I'd like some suggestions on what sort of stats and special abilities it might have. If anybody could respond, that would be muchly appreciated.

Your doing this for your first time DMing?!?! Holy ambition Batman.

Can you steal a God or monster from another campaign world and simply give it a face lift and a name change? Thats usually the easiest way. Chances of your PCs ever cluing in is negligable unless they are really familier with the God or monster in question.

Despite all the evidence accumulated to the contrary most players - even after decades of experience - seem to inexplicably believe most of what their DM tells them. If they think you made up this villian they generally won't be searching through the books to 'find him'.

Otherwise I'd not worry about it much. Its not like you need this guy for tomorrows game. Consider what his basic powers and plans are and run the campaign from there. You can worry about the nitty gritty details two years from now when your players come to face him...

...if your players ever do. Campaigns have a habit of going in unexpected directions - don't make work for yourself if you don't have too. This guys plans and motivations and a basic outline of who he is may be needed from level one of your campaign because he's the mover and shaker in the plot line. His exact hps and special abilities howeevr are simply not relavent. Don't bother with them for know. Put the time into tomorrows adventure - your players will thank you.
