Where is Diamond Lake?

Age of Worms Adventure Path

I am new (kinda) to Greyhawk. I used play D&D back in middle school and he play a mix of Dragonlance and Greyhawk, we where just out to kill things. Know I starting the AoW campain, and I am curious where in greyhawk the town is? I have the 4 part poster from the recent dungeon mags, but if you dont mind tell me in conical directions like NE map section on the left middle, becasue I don't know any land marks on the maps, and I am not sure which map came with which issue.

Thanks,
Jon

It's kind of East-Northeast of the City of Greyhawk.

Greyhawk Map #: South-west
Section of South-west Map: Top right corner.

In the corner, find "Nyr Dyv" lake, then find the "Midbay" label inside the lake. The town of Diamond Lake is two hexes south of "Midbay", at the top of the "Mistmarsh" swamp.

Hi... I am also really new to greyhawk, and the only resource I have as far as maps.. is the Living Greyhawk Gazatteer... I feel like I'm looking in the right area of Cairn Hills.. but I'm not seeing Diamond Lake... Maybe I'm missing something.. or I need the dungeon maps for this.

You wont actually see "Diamond Lake" marked on the maps, they where drawn up long before AoW came into being...

...you can put it where you like, but the last issue of Dungeon gave locations for Diamond Lake in Eberron/Greyhawk and the FR for those that want an "offocial" location.

There are several area maps available for the Cairn Hills & Domain of Greyhawk. IMO, the best one is found in the Doomgrinder module--it shows more locations than any other map I've seen of the Cairn Hills, and even shows the location of 3 cairns near Diamond Lake--two across the lake (the Cult of the Green Lady's cairn & presumably the Stirgenest) & one north of it (the Whispering Cairn, possibly?).

I'm not sure if you'd want to do this just for the maps, but if you go to www.rpgnow.com and buy "Greyhawk, the Adventure Continues" (around five dollars or so for the download), it has some really lovely maps of not only Greyhawk city, but also the surrounding region detail (bits of the Mistmarsh, a map of Elmshire, and a few other things). And at first glance, I think it's compatible with the big 4-part world map of Greyhawk that Dungeon produced (at least, I think it is).

However, it *is* older material (1998, so maybe 2nd edition?), so I'm not really sure how much of it would still be considered "canon" in 3.5e D&D - or how much will be accurate with respect to the rest of the new Age of Worms campaign. But the download has tons and tons of info on the city, the customs, really the whole Greyhawk campaign setting. And I haven't played Greyhawk in 20 years, so this gem was very helpful for me.

Diamond Lake is actually labeled on the big, 4-part poster map of Greyhawk we presented in issues #118-#121. It's a couple hexes east of Greyhawk City.

The Doomgrinder map is also a true thing of beauty: it's painted in full color in watercolors for gosh sake, with detailed topography laying out the Cairn Hills and the Mistmarsh all the way to Greyhawk. It may just be the prettiest darned map I've ever seen in an RPG product. Well, probably excluding some of the I.C.E. products, anyway.

I have the LGG map that you're look at. Diamond Lake is not pictured, but it's slightly below Elmshire, just before the hills turn into the Mistmarsh.

I can second the recommedation for "Greyhawk: the Adventure Begins," especially if you're new to Greyhawk. Not only for great maps, but for over 70(!) pages of specific info about the city itself; very helpful once the AoW campaign moves there.

If your players are new to Greyhawk, there's an accompanying product called Greyhawk: Player's Guide, which has the same regional map, with the info boiled down for the player. I suppose it depends on how much you want them to know about Greyhawk before they get there.

And, oh yeah, The Doomgrinder map is indeed gorgeous, with adventure inspiring details like locations of shipwrecks and abandoned towers.

Oh well, thats how much I know :-)

It's labeled here:

Please note, I found this map online some time ago, and am only using it for my play group online, I have no clue where I found it.

I thought it was illegal to scan maps from Dungeon, Dragon, and elsewhere, and then post them on a publicly-available website. Or does the website owner above have permission from Paizo, etc. with respect to copyrights?

That's not a scan of published material. It's original fan artwork (by Eric Anondsen) hosted by the Canonfire fansite. Better than anything in print! You can get the full map (the link above is a "cropped" portion of a Central Flanaess map), and a few other Greyhawk sub-regional mapping projects, here:
