Arkavus walks along with the two men.
"Well it is obvious we were sent here by your rivals. Now if you are the Children of Freedom or Chaos, and we were sent here by your adversaries, who was the strange man in the mask? If he was sent by your adversaries, he knew he was sent to his death knowing we'd be with six companions. So either he was a decoy or a third party."

"Also if we are called into a petty feud for no apparent reason, I'd rather return to my previous way of life if you don't mind."

Arkavus follows the men hesitantly at first, then a bit more relaxed.

Arkavus looks at the obsidian chip with the rune with interest and searches his mind for anything that might be related to it. First trying Detect Magic on it.

Then he tries to interpret the rune.

Knowledge History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Linguistics?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Arkavus will wait in the doorway for any authority figures to approach. He will ask them the same question as he tried to ask the thin air outside.

If the others go into the passage, Arkavus will follow them instead of waiting around.

Arkavus moves out of the burnt church, or at least he stands in the doorway.
"What do you all know of the man that ambushed us?"

Arkavus shuts off his aura as soon as the man falls.

"Well well, what or who do we have here?" He says as he walks up to fallen man. He removes the man's mask as he kneels beside him.

Arkavus will move with the rest to provide them an armour bonus and keeps his staff ready to strike out when the masked man is flankable.

Arkavus stays behind and grips his quarterstaff tightly, waiting for a moment to get into the action and flank the masked man.

Hold actions until someone moves behind the masked man, Arkavus will not attack head on

Move up closer to Marrant and use my Protective Ward, +1 Deflection to AC for every ally within 10 ft of me.

Arkavus looks on as they find the trap door, looking at the rest of the building before one of them goes in.
Ren's comment made sense to him, it had him worried for a moment.

He checks the foundations for anything that seems to indicate the rest might way.

"You do bring up a good point Narciso, we have no idea as of yet as we haven't had the time to talk to the villagers."

Arkavus looks around the burnt church, seeing almost nothing more than ashes and blackened walls.

Drake pops his head out from under Arkavus's collar and looks around and sniffs the air.
Drake's Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Shortly after Arkavus senses that he saw something, after that Drake climbed off of his master and chitters across the floor to the source of light.

"So he was a suicide arsonist? I wonder why a man would do such a thing, being burned hurts like hell. Perhaps there is a hiding place or secret tunnel out of the church?"

Things we could think of that might be helpful: Maps, Lanterns, Rope grappling hook, tents, mwrk backpack, spellbooks that are have spells written in perhaps?

So only mundane items? Potions and alchemical items are out of the question right? 300 worth of mundane items is alot.

Arkavus manages to fish out a very sturdy looking backpack out of storage.
"This feels sturdier than my own old backpack. I guess I could part with that old thing."

Oh put that butterknife back in your pocket and listen." Arkavus says bluntly and with a slight irritation in his voice, as he hears and sees the ninja attempt to sneak in with her dagger drawn.

Arkavus moves closer to the door.
"Urgent you say? Well I can't think of anything more urgent than explaining our sudden appearance on this 'ship'? And then please explain why our situation is so urgent."

He moves his hand around in his robes and extracts a few dried insects from it, holding them before Drake, who quickly and eagerly eats them.
"You even forgot to feed my pet it seems, how long were we asleep?"

Arkavus walks over to the chest and opens it.

"Ah my gear, I think I would be pretty lost without it, all the time of getting a new one."
I figure that my quarterstaff is not in there, unless it is a Chest of Holding, but it'll be to the wall or something?

He collecst his blue and black travelling outfit, his unique staff and his spellbook first, then collects his other stuff in the backpack.

"Don't mind if I do accept a tankard of that fine drink Narciso. By the way my last name is Lyehell, but in Magnimar and Nybor I go by a different name."

He takes his drink and opens up the spellbook to study the few spells it contains.

"Good eye indeed. Though I do wonder why and how we ended up here. We must have something in common for us to suddenly awake on a ship."

The Half-elf looks to the others that have not woken yet. "They might be tight sleepers, but you two are not apparently. Do you mind giving me your names?"

He stands and the lizard on his shoulder slides of a bit and climbs hastily back onto his shoulder.
"I am Arkavus and this is my pet Drake."

Arkavus wakes from his slumber, lying perfectly still for a moment as he looks up at the ceiling. and eyes the person(s) lying right next to him with one eye.

Then he sits straight up and looks around at the other beds to see what kind of people are on there with him as well as taking in any sights and smells that are abound in the room.

"Drake? Drake are you here?" A small lizard appears scurrying from under his bed, apparently he managed to hide while his master slept. The lizard moves a bit, looks around, climbs up the bed post and looks around and finally climbs up his master's arm.

"Welcome back my little friend. Now where might we be?"

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Now this is a colourful assortment of characters as I've ever seen one. Though that one time I saw that half-orc and gnome mariachi band still tops that.

I might have an idea as to what kind of campaign we're playing.

Well we were almost one Half-Elf down in Kingmaker, would be natural that two more respawn somewhere on this forum.
