The last thing you remember was having your fortune told by Harrow reader using a strange deck of cards called a Harrow Deck. The past is hazy, and the present even more so. You seem to be in an enchanted garden of some sort, but the sky looks painted like the backdrop of a play, and the surrounding area also has a quality of illustration that you can’t quite put your finger on.There are white marble walls, stained by ages and overgrown with thorns,
surround this weed-choked garden. White cobblestones leadinto the open gate, flanked on either side by tarnished bronzeangels. An echo of a voice repeating ” I am sorry, but I had no choice. Defeat Zassrion and free me, I beg of you.” is heard in your head as you stand and try to get your bearings.

Hello and welcome to my recruitment for The Harrowing, a 9th lvl Pathfinder 1st ed module. This will be run using TOTM(Theater of the mind) and no maps. I will combine initiative bonuses from the players and the encounters and just make 2 rolls every combat for simplicity due to the type of gameplay. Those of you familiar with this module are welcome to play, though expect some changes and do not try to ruin it for others. One change will be how you enter the harrowing and some of the NPCs involved in that. See below for specifics on generating a character.
Generating a 9th level character can be a daunting task without herolab or a similar program. If you are interested in playing, but would like me to plug in the numbers for you I would be willing.

Character Generation:
20 point buy. 50,000 gp starting wealth (No items of teleportation or the like as they would potentially break this module) Races Allowed : Any Paizo race (Yes, even a Drow Nobel) let’s have some fun with this. Books Allowed: Any Paizo, some 3rd party on case by case. Please don’t math hammer me to death. Classes Allowed: Going to allow most, but let’s not get too into the weeds I would prefer to stay to Core/APG classes but an occasional occultist or psionics type might work. Alignment Any, though targeting PCs for harassment will have you visited by a swarm of mind worms when you sleep. There will be plenty of NPCs for you to intimidate/bluff/coerce your way through. You have been warned. 2 Traits, Drawbacks may be taken though expect them to show up during the module if you do. No secondary skills.

Try to remember this is an older module so the more you spice things up with 3p or advanced material the more I will have to return in kind with the encounters.
Harrow Deck/Background Backgrounds need not be too intricate, but you are 9th level so probably have made a name for yourself in some regard so perhaps some highlights of your exploits. In your background you should put how you arrived in the Harrowing. It should include an encounter with a gypsy harrow deck reader that read your fortune. I will use the dice version of the Harrow Deck in the back of the Curse of the Crimson Throne for readings. (D6 for stat D10 for Alignment). If chosen I will give you the specifics of that reading in the discussion tab and you will be given some traits/ability bonuses based on that reading.

*Recruitment Ends April 15th. I will be taking 6 players, understanding that I will probably lose 1-2 of you right off the bat as that is typical. When this happens I will attempt to recruit more as I bot the ones that left or fail to post at least once a day (24 hours). If you have any questions feel free to ask. Heavy handed suggestions on how I should run my game however feel free to keep to yourself or start your own game with.

Hello everyone. This is just an Interest Check to see if I should put some effort into this. I find myself with some free time so recruitment could be up as soon as the next few days if I get some interest.

Why The Harrowing? APs take way too long for PbP with few exceptions. This is one of the best rated modules and I believe it is suited well for PbP. I intend to do it Theater of the Mind style without any maps, which should work fine since the maps in this module are not that intricate. It also is for lvl 9 characters and I understand there is a hunger to play characters above lvl 1 as most pbp do not last very long. Also, I have enjoyed using Harrow decks in the Curse of the Crimson Throne and Rise of the Runelords so this is another chance to put it to use.

How Many players? I like to go with 6, understanding I will lose 1-2 almost immediately as I have played enough on these boards (going on like 6 years now with multiple accounts) to see that this is a common occurrence.

What books will you allow? I plan to be generous in resources allowed and may consider some 3pp even, but it should fit the setting. Understand this is an older module also so if you spice things up too much I might have to return in kind.

Thanks for reading, again this is just an INTEREST CHECK so don't be posting with ready made characters just yet I still need to read through the module properly and prepare before I am ready to give out character generation specifics. That being said I will try to answer any questions and post a legit recruitment soon if enough interest is generated.

Hello everyone this is Michael, mentor for Stellar Care. This is going to be a pathfinder first edition play by post for clients of Stellar Care. I plan on running the campaign called Curse of the Crimson Throne.Once I see how many people I have that are interested I will put out the rules for creating a character.

Lets post profiles here and get started.

So the council is in agreement then. These representatives will seek out the cause of the disappearances. The tall Gnorri female says before turning to each of you. Do you swear by the blood of the ancients and the thousand year old truce to work together to seek out justice for our lost kin?
This is a recruitment for the module Silence from Sommerisk by Petersen Games. All these Strange Aeon's games got me interested in some Lovecraft action, unfortunately my characters were not chosen so I figured I would just do my own Lovecraft game. I will take a party of 5.

Character Creation:
Starting at level 4. 25 point buy. 2 traits. Can do a drawback for an extra trait, the old gods love greed. Background Skills, but Profession Yog-Sothothery Philosopher is not a Background Skill. It can be taken as a class skill only. 6,000 gp starting (Standard for level 4). Max Hit points all levels. Races- Need one Dreamer Cat, One Zoog, One Mythos Ghoul, One Gnorri, and one other from Pathfinder Core. Classes Any classes, I will give special consideration for those that use an archetype from the Cthulhu Mythos book. Alignment- Any, Lawful Good will be a hell of a challenge here, and The Thousand Year Old Truce will bind you to working with your teamates, but if you are a Mythos Ghoul feel free to feed on or dismember your enemies however you see fit.

This module has you investigate disappearances in the land of Gnathowins. For the purposes of this game Gnathowins is part of Ustalav on the coast of Avalon Bay. Speaking Aklo will be helpful. Profession Yog-Sothothery will be helpful. Swimming will occur. Undead will be present. Going off alone will be a very bad idea. That's about as much of a player's guide I think you'll get here.
Profession Game Master to predict questions about to be asked: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Why Start at level 4?This module is designed to be played at any level, but the premise suggests you are all competent and known in the Gnathowins area. I think level 4 meets that and also sets me up to run Carrion Crown after when you are all level 5 if this goes well.
Where can I find free stuff for this? The great magician Google might have an answer to this, but if you want to purchase it I got my digital copies from Drive Thru RPG.
Why one of each race? Partly for the module, and in part to test them out a bit.
Will we use Dread Rules from the Cthulhu Mythos? Yes. YES! And the resistance optional rule also.
What other books, rules or materials will be used? Will also use ritual magic from Cthulhu Mythos. No other 3rd party materials will be used for this since it is my first time GMing this specific material and will be a bit to chew as it is. Most paizo material will be allowed, just keep it Lovecraft inspired please.
When does it begin/How long for recruitment? Lets give it two weeks. So sometime in the first week of August I will form a party.

Ask any questions I will try to answer them daily.

IT IS THE 41st MILLENNIUM

For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of His inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that He may never truly die.

Yet even in His deathless state, the Emperor continues His eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst His soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the Tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

"So you are going down there eh? Well don't let me stop you, not that I could if I wanted to, but just remember t'ain't no reds or yellows down there at all. Not that there are many up here, well 'cept you and yours on occasion of course. I'd reconsider though if'in I were you. I'm old as you know, and not ever seen one return once they gone down, not even a yellow. But you know you so i'll be me and stay out of it. Just don't you be sayin' I didn' warn you. As Old Man Remus speaks over the sounds of the gangs fighting in the distance you can not decide what is worse, his low gothic grammar or his breath, but he has been a sold contact in the past and true to the Imperial cause so you forgive him minor transgressions, though calling Adeptus Arbites "reds" and Imperial Fist Astartes "yellows" would at the very least be grounds for a stern lecture and perhaps a flogging at this particular moment you have urgent business so you pretend not to hear it.

Awareness DN 3:
You notice Ol'Man Remus has a knife on his belt that is odd in shape and you have not seen him wearing it before.

Araneus. Hard to believe the world you lived on once held such a beautiful moniker. Necromunda, dead world. Now that makes sense. The air of Hive Primus is so toxic non-natives have to cover themselves from head to toe or instantly break out in boils and bleeding sores. At least that is what Ol'Man Remus says, and around here that is basically gospel.

Your thoughts are interrupted by las and auto pistol fire. The Rathole Jokers of House Orlok are making a move against the Blackhearts of House Delaque. Retribution for raiding their foundry. Most people in your situation would consider themselves in certain peril. For you it is just a distraction on your way to the Underhive. Reports of entire gangs missing and giving up contracts has disturbed the great houses and hindered recruitment efforts for the Imperial Fists. You take stock of your armaments and make your way through the routine turmoil of the hive city to meet with the rest of your team...

Welcome to the recruitment for my Wrath and Glory campaign. Inspired by the Kal Jerico novels, The Warriors movie, and Ghost Warrior (Rise of Ynnari) novel. You will be investigating goings on in the Underhive of Hive Primus on the world of Necromunda. This will be Theater of the Mind, so no maps sorry. I will give it a couple of weeks to fill recruitment. July 16th will be the cut off.

Character Creation:

Tier – 2
Rank - 1
Build Points – 210

Races – Adeptus Astartes (Imperial Fists -sub chapters with compelling backstory we can discuss), Eldar (Saim Hann Craftworld only), Human (Abhumans possible but will have to discuss), Ork (Blood Axe only)

Archetypes allowed - All Tier 2 except Rogue Psyker. Sanctioned Psyker is valid. Scavvy will have to choose a gang affiliation. Scions can opt to be an Arbites (can discuss details) . Some Tier 1 possible, will have to discuss. Space Marine Scout will have have to be Imperial Fist(Sub Chapter might be plausible)

Wargear – Armour, Cybernetics, and Tools as Archetype. Weapons: 2 weapons of no greater value than 3, or 1 weapon value 5. These starting weapons are Keyword: Necromunda and any player character can wield them. You may also choose one weapon upgrade of value no greater than 3 to place on one of your weapons. *Special Weapons Trooper talent my be selected by any player character so long as they meet the Ballistic Skill +3 requirement. Any weapons gained by this talent change keyword to Necromunda.

Additional information - At the start your characters will gain the Peer (Imperial Fists) talent unless they are an Imperial Fist in which case they gain the talent Touched by Fate.

Framework- In this campaign you will be fighting for your survival in Hive Primus on the world of Necromunda, also known as Araneus. You either are an Imperial Fist scout or have an affiliation with them that you will have to explain in your background. Perhaps a local contact to aid in their recruitment efforts, a recruit yourself, or a sanctioned psyker assigned to the citadel are some examples.

So the beginner game is out for L5R and I would like to try it. In some ways it will be very easy on PbP format, but the dice system might be a challenge. I have a campaign I wrote when it was announced last year and I am beginning to play it with my friends now and they love it so figured I could expand my audience.

I know what Gaedren has done you. He has wronged me as well. I know where he dwells, yet cannon strike him. Come to my home at 3 Lancet Street at Sunset. Others like you will be there. Gaedren must face his fate, and justice must be done. You read the passage and consider all the possibilities.

Alistair:
Your harrow card is the Juggler. The image shows a giant man juggling boulders. Having spent a good amount of time in Korvosa, you are familiar with the card enough to know it represents fate being on your side.

Garran:
Your harrow card is the bear. The image is of a bear in a circus on a unicycle. You are knowledgeable of Varisian culture from your travels and know this card represents brute strength reigning.

Nicoleta:
Your card is the locksmith. Your time as a fortune teller provides you with significant insight into this card. The image on the card is a man wearing a cloak. Inside the cloak is many keys. These keys are both figurative, and literal. They are the keys to a new destiny, but also suggest a key maybe needed in the soon future. This is certainly no regular harrow card though, maybe it is a key itself...

Aryah:
Your card is the Queen Mother. The image on the card is of a large Queen Ant. Your Shoanti background and religion does not offer much more insight into the meanings of this card, but the significance of the Mother is powerful in your world view. Pharasma herself is known as the Mother of Souls, that thought enters your mind as you look up this card.

Danni:
Your card is the twin. The image on the card is of two humans, one with blonde hair the other with dark hair. Your arcane background provides you with some insight into its meaning. The card represents a duality of purpose. Sometimes this card can also be literal and mean there is some sort of twin of you out there that is going to oppose you.

Detect Magic on Harrow Card:
You cast Detect Magic on the card. The card has a strong Neutral Aura and is definitely magic.

If you are going to do anything besides go to the address on the card let me know. If you are planning on NOT going to the address let me know that as well.

Hi all! Post finished Profile here.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Gaedren, a local would be crime lord has wronged you. Unlike everyone else he has done this to in the past, you will do something about it. As you are plotting your revenge you find a Harrow Card. There is a message written on it that reads:

I know what Gaedren has done to you. He has wronged me as well. I know where he dwells, yet cannot strike at him. Come at 3 Lancet Street at sunset. Others like you will be there. Gaedren must face his fate. and justice must be done. When you read the message you get a flash of a young woman's face. Her hair is pulled back and held by a bandanna.

Hi all, welcome to my recruitment for Curse of the Crimson Throne. I bought the new hardcover about a year ago, but never got a chance to play it yet. With the next edition of Pathfinder approaching, I wanted to revisit one of the original great APs.This will be Theater of the Mind game style (No combat maps) and I plan on using a lot of concepts from Ultimate Intrigue

Character Creation:
25 point buy (feeling generous) 2 traits- One must be a campaign trait. Here is a link to the updated campaign guide Curse of Crimson Throne Campaign Guide Max HP every level. No background skills. Will be using Hero Points. 400 gold to start (300 must be spent on equipment, any gold over 100 left over will be rounded to 100). Any Paizo material maybe used, but try to make a character that fits in this setting please. Third party material will be case by case, don't be surprised if I say no. It usually is not the third party material by itself that is overpowered, but the combination of it and other paizo materials. I would like a background that includes-Why are you in Korvosa? How has Gaedren wronged you? And, what major goal does your character have?

Special Rules:
Hero Points will be used. You start with one. Hero point feats are allowed. Some NPCs will also have Hero Points so beware. I will give out levels at appropriate times, there will be no xp. Because of that, once you complete your campaign trait mini-quest or achievement you will instead increase the party's hero points by 1. That is that everyone will gain 1 hero point and increase their total potential hero points by 1. Social Combat From Ultimate Intrigue I will be using the social combat rules. I have never used them before so would like to give them a try and I feel this AP will have some appropriate spots for them.

Basic expectations- Post once a day excluding weekends. If you do not post within 48 hours I will narrate something appropriate for your character to be doing ( I will not bot them). Please give me more than a one sentence post. Tell me what your character is doing, saying, thinking. Push the story forward with choices you are making. If I tell you there is a door in front of you tell me if you are going through it, checking it for traps, or if you are waiting what are you waiting for. If you need to discuss things OOC extensively, that is what the discussion tab is for. I have no problem with a little "table talk" in the discussion tab, there are players of all levels of experience so be patient and respectful.

I will choose players in a week, 5 slots. That is July 18th @ midnight MST. You will not have to make a profile yet, just a concept and background at this time if you want. Once I have chosen players I will ask the chosen to post in discussion with a profile and do last min audits of the characters before I post the gameplay. Ask any questions you might have.
