Howdy Owen, thanks for your insights. I'm not a gaming insider like you, software is my trade. Not sure if you're aware, but we make a TON of money off licenses for a bit getting flipped. So, I'm coming at this from a different angle.

I tend to keep a close eye on the top of an organization, because you can usually see - especially over time, how the leadership views their customers. When Hasbro went to an ex Microsoft CEO, we saw a big, big push for branding, market recognition, software and website options, and of course direct ARR streams straight from the customer - how very B2B of them! With the president/CEO of Wizards now being an ex Microsoft online guy we're seeing a big push for online.

I cannot say anything negative about Lisa Stevens. She's OG, and understood brand devotion. Paizo people are like juggalos in their devotion (tattoos of golems and talking s*!@ on Wizards is who we are).

But, I feel like there's been a recognizable shift the past few years. Around Dark Archive I started disliking their design decisions and things began to feel samey. Then the OGL debacle, which, was a moment of blazing heat and they had to strike, I get that. but it really hammered the breaks on the system. I felt the design never recovered. And now, looking at the new CEO'S CV, from the article here - this totally tracks. We're moving from publishing first and community based to the learned experiences of an MMO online gaming, "Director of Marketting and LICENSING" company. And there couldn't be a worse time, because they had to ger rid of the soul of the company from the Diamond debacle.

So, my question is - how bad is my read?

The sidebar states that it works on more creatures... but it doesn't explain how it works on more creatures. When sticking with backward compatibility, it makes the power exactly the same as it was, at least when reading the monster books. I'm not sure why it's there, or what exactly it's referring to.

Just a thought, I'm guessing this was done to save space, but...

It seems like there should be more of an... announcement when you get to a new chapter. When I first go to page 11 of the PDF, I thought to myself, "Man, they sure added a lot of stuff to this one chapter." I realize that in the print edition you'll see a big 4 on the right hand page, but it might be handy to, I don't know, advertise chapter transition a bit more.
Not that you need a big yellow page like the DnD manuals, I always hated that big yellow page thing they went with!
