1- Do the encounters with the Shackles ship followed by Jemma count as sequential checks? So if there are 2 characters at the location could one check against the ship and the other against Jemma? Or does that rule only apply if both of the sequential checks are on the same bane?

2- Does the ship have to be defeated in order to encounter Jemma?

I picked up the S&S base set, will be trying it out with my kids.
I tried the first few scenarios by myself using 2 characters so I could get used to the rules, now ready to restart.

My kids have picked Jirelle and Merisiel as their characters. I'd really like to use Seltyiel, but I'm worried about how we'll do against some of the non-combat villians, since nobody has diplomacy and our highest charisma is d8. Should I just cave in and play Lem instead? Or will we be fine with this team?
