My friend and I had some churros - those nasty, sweet deep fried thingies. He rather liked the sound of the name, and imagined that it fit the name of a big, strong dusty, nasty hispanic type coming out on the desert on a horse and prepared to be rude, drunk, sweaty, and hit on Antonio Banderas' girlfriend. Think Danny Trejo, Robert Rodriguez, Tarantino, From Dusk Till Dawn, Desperado, etc.

Now he wants to play a type like that in my new campaign. Any suggestions as to how to build this? I was thinking a multiclass mongrel, with perhaps fighter, rogue, ranger and inquisitor.
Or perhaps a strong power-attattacking rogue?

But let my hear your suggestions :-)

(Spoiler alert if you are from my group Onsdagsholdet)

We are a group of 7 who meet once a week and play through some long campaigns. However, it sometimes happen that a number of us cannot come, and these days we cannot proceed with the main campaign. I have decided to make a loose campaign where the characters can come and go.

I have come up with Sanctuaries. The premise is swiped from this Reddit thread:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder_RPG/comments/28kx1a/tell_us_about_your_g ame_50/

"The premise of the campaign is that the world was magicless and monsterless until a cosmic cataclysm merged two planes together. In the ensuing chaos, many many people lost their lives as the world rearranged to become stable and monsters flooded the land. Old nations and rivalries were shattered, and the people began to live in sanctuaries; banding together to withstand the horrors that now stalked through their world. So this game started 100 years later, and now the sanctuaries are mostly secure."
This means that maps are useless, since the merger changed the geography. Anything can happen outside the sanctuaries, perfect for one-shot adventures.
Sorcerers will be common. Wizards will not be steeped in tradition as wizardry will only be a 100 year old discipline, which is mostly sorcery put to formula.
The gods will have been unknown until 100 years ago. After the cataclysm, people learned the hard way that praying to supreme beings yielded good results.

I am too busy to really put work into this, so I planned to wing it (I have a lot of GM experience). But then it came to me: Why not crowdsource this?

Thus, I will ask the Paizo board for help with resources. In return, I will do one of my famed reviews of every gaming night and out it here for your entertainment!

So, building on the campaign premises, the characters will start in one of these sanctuaries. I envision it as a strongly walled town with about 2000 inhabitants. The town is placed on a river, from which a large part of the town's food is gained. The river is also the only link to other sanctuaries - 1 or 2 others are known along the river.
Surrounding the sanctuary is a some land which provides natural resources. Farmland, orchards, woods. etc. This land is also protected by a wall, albeit not as strong. About 100 people live outside the town, but inside the sanctuary.
An old road leaves the sanctuary, but nobody has followed it for very long.

So what I need from you:

A name from the sanctuary.
Important NPCs in the sanctuary.
A map of the town. Does someone have a good map of a town along a river laying about?
A map of the sanctuary.
Hooks for the first adventure.
Tips, ideas and comments :-)

The characters will be level 1, 15 point buy. The party will be 2 to 3 people strong.

Looking forward to your input :-)

I asked around before for advice about which character to play. Thanks for your replies everyone, you helped a lot. I have finally decided: The Chosen One it is. The reason? I felt like having an animal companion, and waiting 5 levels for it (the Arcane Druid - a wizard with the Animal Ally feat) was too long. On top of it, my brother made a joke about herding mammoths, and it came to me: Using Smilodons to herd woolly mammoths! Brilliant!

The Chosen One is from the Land of the Mammoth Lords, and comes from a tribe which have tamed smilodons and are using them to herd mammoths. For some yet-to-be-decided reason, he has decided he is The Chosen One. Possibly he went on a trip south, and saw everyone else herding sheep using dogs, and jumped to the logical conclusion. The smilodon will start off as a large kitten, and grow large and powerful.

So, I have decided on a concept. The next step is building the guy. Here goes:

The Chosen One
Human Sylvan Sorcerer

15 points
STR: 8
DEX: 12
CON: 12
INT: 13
WIS: 10
CHA: 16+2

Flaw: Pride
Traits: Eyes of the City (perception becomes class skill - re-flavored to Eyes of the Plains), Magical lineage (fireball, I think), Desperate Focus.

I want him to mainly do crowd control and buffs, with the occasional blast. The Chosen One has others do the hard work!
I have two feat lists, and offensive build and a defensive build.

Feat choice list, offensive build:

1 Toughness, Boon Companion
3 Spell Focus
5 Spell Specialization
7 Dazing Spell, Bonus Feat: Quicken Spell
9 Craft Rods
11 Combat Casting
13 Piercing Spell, Bonus Feat: Improved Initiative
15 Spell Mastery

Feat choice list, defensive build:

1 Toughness, Combat Casting
3 Boon Companion
5 Great Fortitude
7 Dazing Spell, Bonus Feat: Quicken Spell
9 Craft Rods
11 Piercing Spell
13 Iron Will, Bonus Feat: Improved Initiative
15 Spell Mastery

A note about Craft Rods: I want to use it to make metamagic rods. Dazing Spell for 7000 gold? Yes, please! I see two problems, however: First, how do I switch easily between them? I might have to fit Quick Draw in my feats. Second, how can I get enough spellcraft to make rods with feats I do not know? The DC is 28, but I can only reach a spellcraft of 13 at level 9 (class skill, 9 ranks, 13 int). How can I scrape together the last 5 skill points needed to take 10?

And, which 1st lvl feat for my sabertooth tiger?

Thoughts?

So, my group will start a new game soon - this time I am going to be a player after GMing for many years.

We are going to play a Paizo adventure path - the GM will not tell us which, as he feels the title spoils the ending of the first book. Fair enough (and please do not spoil it for me if any of you can guess which one form that little information.)

But what to play? Sooo, many cool options, so I turn to you.

The party so far:
Healer/Blaster Cleric of Sarenrae with fireball as Preferred Spell and quick channel + heal domain for heals.
Vanilla Paladin
Barbarian/Vivisectionist grappler/sneak attacker/archer
Another Paladin with oracle dips - this guy will probably make an arcane caster instead if I do not.

All are good optimisers, so it is not very important what I make - even with an unbalanced party we should be fine. And, well, the cleric and the barb/vivisectionist have most roles covered between them anyway.

I have a number of ideas:

The Chosen One - sylvan sorceror with low wisdom and extreme levels of arrogance. Is convinced he is The Chosen One, and get absolutely baffled when things do not go exactly as he planned.

Urban Barbarian / Beastmorph Alchemist - a very versatile take on the switch hitter. Uses reach weapon, Combat Reflexes, Dispelling Bombs, Infusions and the healing discoveries to have a trick up his sleeve for practically any situation, while still having the ability to hit people very, very hard.

The Arcace Druid - Wizard, probably specialing in Conjuration. Using Nature Soul, Animal Ally and Boon Companion feats to gain a leopard companion, while still being a full-blown wizard. I'll probably make him a small, annoying elf.

The Old and Tired Dwarf - A dwarven veteran of many wars. Enjoys the feel of metal armour on his body, and bashing in an orc's skull. Unfortunately, he was to old to prevent the tragedy that befell his home town when the ogres came. He was one of the only survivors, and took to wandering the world as a mercenary, to old to fight properly, and too depressed to care. It was here that he found out that he was an Empyreal Sorcerer, and now has a chance of redemption.

Knife Master Rogue / Teleportation Wizard / Arcane Trickster - a distinguished nobleman, inspired by the Discworld Assassins. Well-educated, polite, handsome, and extremely adept at stalking you and cutting your throat.

All of them sound like great fun to me. Your opinions? Or perhaps suggestions?

Hi guys,

My Kingmaker campaign is nearing its end, and in my next campaign I am back to being a player after years of GMing. Whew!

So, our next campaign is coming up. It is going to be a classic fantasy campaign, and I have decided on my character concept: The Chosen One! But not in the classic Wizard's First Rule etc. kind of way. This guy is convinced he is The Chosen One, and is loaded with arrogance. He is entirely unfazed by the deadliest of dangers, he cannot lose since he is Chosen after all, but if people do not immediately do as he says, or things do not go as he wishes, he is entirely baffled. How can they not do as he says? He is The Chosen One.

I am uncertain as to class and exact background though, and that is where you guys come in. Inspire me!

Campaign rules:
Lvl 1 to 16
Summoner is banned. If I really want to play one, I will probably be allowed if I nerf it heavily.
No gunslingers
The GM will probably adopt my houserules: Everybody receives one extra skill point per level. Fighter gets a boost (+2 skill points per level, Bravery grants plusses to Will Save instead of only against fear).

Core rules, Advanced Players Guide, Advanced Combat and Advanced Magic (or whatever they are called) are allowed, I can probably use other content as well if I ask him.

I have an idea in my head. A summoner seems like a good choice for this concept. He is born with his powers, so he have not had to work very hard - good for the arrogance, and he even has the charisma to get away with it.
I like the idea of an animal companion, so the Sylvan bloodline sounds nice.

I don't think I want to blast a lot. The Chosen One does not get his hands dirty! Rather, I will focus on summoning and battlefield control.

So a draft build:
Human sorc - sylvan bloodline (15 point) - level 1
STR 10
Dex 12
Con 12
Wis 9
Int 12
Cha 18 (incl +2 racial)

Feats: Toughness, Boon companion (technically not allowed, but I am quite confident I will be allowed if I ask)

Favored class bonus - extra spell known

Traits:
Eyes of the forest (perception +1, becomes a class skill)
Magical Lineage (Spell? Stone Call, maybe?)

Skills:
Er, something. Perception, Knowledge local, Stealth and Intimidation?

Spells: Mage armor, Enlarge, Sleep

However, this build is merely a first draft.
So, let me hear what you think.

Hi guys,

I am about to start a Kingmaker campaign, and I am really looking forward to it. One of the things I really would like, is to capture to the mood of unexplored wilderness, and to that end, I would like some mood-setting resources.
I can make most of them myself, but I am a lazy person, so if any of you guys have already done the hard work, I could just use yours if you are willing to share.

I need:

Player handouts (FenixFire007 did those already for the first three chapters, here: http://paizo.com/forums/dmtz2sqe?Kingmaker-Player-Handouts)

The pics from the pdf. They are great, and I would like to print them. I can extract them myself, but if one of you guys have done that already, I might as well use those.

Wilderness random event tables pr. terrain. Not as much wandering monsters, more like "you are startled by a rabbit" "a squirrel ate some of your food", etc.

Terrain pics. Ie. pics of woods, plains, marches etc, as you picture them in the Greenbelt.

Background sound effects for the different terrain types. For instance, a short 1-minute loop for when the PCs are first exploring a new hex. I am good at that sort of thing, so I will make and post some if no one else steps forward.

Background music. A flute or lut for campfire mood, etc.

I will collect the resources and upload them somewhere for all to enjoy :-)

Hi guys

I recently leveled up with my witch, but I am a hat at deciding feats. Please help :-)

My witch started a career as a hunter, so she is very good at perception and stealth. I have put some points into knowledge skills and spellcraft as well.
She is slightly insane, and convinced that her cat familiar is a dragon in disguise.

My first two feats were toughness and scribe scroll. I want improved familiar at lvl 7 so I can get a pseudodragon (even though they suck, but one of those fit my character concept).

I will probably be taking arcane blast at lvl 11. The witch is poor against non-living opponents, and a bit of blasting ability would do much to help with that.

I considered getting augmented summoning, but I need two feats for that, and the spell focus feat sucks.

Combat casting would be nice, but a bit dull.

Extra traits would be nice as well - I could put them in stealth and survival, which would fit well with the character concept.

Breadth of experience, perhaps? +2 to all knowledge is nice.

Suggestions, comments?
