issue number 17 of the module subscription still shows pending.....i know a couple of weeks or so ago i needed to update my debit card info and thought that would take care of it and even ordered some stuff at that time which came...still no issue 17...now i show issue 18 is already in the mail and issue 17 is still pending.......oops....i guess i needed to email you guys or something? sorry about that...do i need to go back and order 17 or will it just show up a little bit later? sorry it took so long for me to realize there was a problem....between computers at the moment :(
I don't think the racial enemy bonuses should be cut.......i understand some people don't use them much but i'm running a game now (crown of the kobold king) where i have a gnomish rogue in the party and the player is role playing his hatred of kobolds perfectly.......in fact he's seriously considering dropping the character after the adventure because of one little kobold who gave up and has the party convinced to "give him a chance"..........what i'm trying to say is it can make for memorable games and adventures if done correctly
i completely agree that by the time of 3.5 it was certainly out of hand and most assuredly the first time i looked at the playtest rules for the new pathfinder i went through the roof (in a bad way).......i apologise if my comments were seen as knocking on a certain type of player....and yes looking closer the power levels of 4th edition stay fairly consistent throughout so that a 20th level pc is not all that different from a 10th level pc.....that is not my "gripe" it's the fact it's harder than petrified snot to die at 1st level unless you throw monsters at the party that USED to be saved back until about 7th or 8th level..... i guess in the end it's all in how you play the game that makes it "monty haul" or not........that point is well taken and I've been well put in my place :) I'm sure there will be new games that will be interesting just as i remember my first dnd game ever was VERY VERY "monty haul" .......my only point was the new rules seem to be geared toward the lose control quickly and throw up your hands in despair type of game.....ah well.......there i go again......time for me to stop before my foot ends up halfway down my throat :)
I can be civil and polite about this so here goes ........ Just got done reading through the core books and the impression i get from them is very simple....it's written for "Monty Haul" players. Those of you who know what that actually means are the ones I'm writing to. If you are that type of player (or "gm") then 4th edition is a godsend and it's the "coolest" game ever made. If you are more the type that loves challenges and actual role-playing as opposed to roll-playing then 4th edition is the end of Mr. Gygax and Mr. Arneson's game. I hope that doesn't offend anybody too much....all the bullcrap being spewed back and forth is very tiresome even if I can relate to some of the arguements being put forth. If you love it...go play it and talk amongst yourselves........if you hate it.....don't go play it and talk amongst yourselves.........leave each other alone and respect their views even if you disagree with it.......sorry :( didn't mean to preach :(
even though i loathe wizards of the coast and totally hate the entire idea behind the mechanics of 4th edition......i have to admit the guy makes sense. there's no way any game that even smells like dnd 3.5 has a chance. wotc has too much money and too much clout in the industry. sadly 4th edition is the way to go.....for now.......it'll turn out like 2nd edition....gag; throw up; throw away the books.......oh wait planescape was cool.....for five minutes.
i'm sure somewhere on here there's an answer to paizo going 4th edition and when if so but i sure can't find it anywhere so a new thread and hopefully a good answer soon since it affects whether i renew my subscription to pathfinder or not........i'm sorry guys but 4th edition seriously looks like the worst game to ever come out for role-playing......the logo sucks; the rules suck; i'm pretty sure whoever is writing it just slapped some crap together and said there. Hol was better than this (how many of you remember hol?)
Just got the first issue in the mail today and took a quick look and definitely like the interesting deities i saw........most assuredly Asmodeus is the one i want to know more about.....hopefully the things i saw in the first issue continue thru the next 5......you guys look like you have another winner on your hands.....thank you for caring and not going the way of cookie cutter monsters and cookie cutter characters like someone else who shall remain nameless |
