If I had to guess I would say this was about 1984 when I leafed through an lavishly illustrated sci-fi/fantasy art book at a friend's house. There were full page illustrations every other page and I dimly recall it had a couple of double page spreads as well.

Now for the less remembered aspects of the book. I leaved through the text only very briefly and was paying more attention to the wonderful artwork than on the story so parts of this recollection may be wrong. The story was about the crew of a spaceship crash landed on an alien planet with barbaric natives (I recall the illustrations made them look like "orcs") and their journeys across the planet in search of something or other.

I have on and off for the last decade or so looked at examples of fantasy art from that period in the hope of finding out the name of the artist but to date have not found any that matches the images that I recall.

Any clues appreciated.

I sure imagined Logen Ninefingers a lot more brutish and a lot uglier...

Just bought and downloaded from GOG one of my favorite games of yore: Syndicate Wars from Bullfrog. Many hours of my youth were spent indulging in total mayhem with all sorts of gloriously destructive weaponry and especially trying to collapse a building on top of enemy agents.

Looking for books dealing with golems and constructs, especially with rules for using them as PCs. So far I have managed to get hold of these:

Mythic Menagerie - Engines of Destruction (Super Genius)
Ironborn of Questhaven (Rite)
Golemcraft 101 (Dog Soul)

Any other recommendations?

I ran across the Kickstarter for the 20th Aniversary Edition and signed up despite not having heard of the game for the last 20 years... largely on the strength of the art and my obsession with all things Viking.

Are there any players with experience to share on how it plays?
