I am a new GM who has formed a group and am trying to run it to my best abilities. I have a few questions when a caster casts a damage spell to they make a hit roll vs the enemies touch ac? or full ac? or do the enemies get saves toward the spells. Also do sorcerers add their charisma to all spell damage? or no also starting lvl 1 weapons one of my players is playing a tiefling barbarian and he is using a 2h bludgeoning weapon but it does 2d6 of damage so on a lvl 1 encounter he almost always 1 shots everything compared to the others. The weapon is called a earth breaker. Should be rationing out what weapons they can have even though they can afford it for balance sake? Because as it is the casters will get s~** on by lvl 1 encounter monsters. But the barbarian can take all the hits and deal a killing blow almost every round. What should I do ? Also do you always add str mod to melee hits? also how does the combat maneuvers work like charge? or grapple I haven't been able to comfortably explain that to the players yer
