Howdy all,

Just a quick question: why doesn't Paizo have more products on Roll20?

I run all of my games on Roll20 (and love it!) and recently picked up 2E and I'm really enthusiastic about running an AP for it...but there's not much for it on Roll20. (I'm not switching VTTs for a number of reasons...)

Even if I wanted to run some of the old APs, there's very, very few on there. I'm actually running Runelords right now (and it's great!) but I'd love to do some of the other classics.

Any reason? My understanding was that Paizo and Roll20 had a strong partnership - but the Paizo APs on there are dwarfed by 5E.

Just qurious,
Apshai

I often feel Roll20 gets a lot of criticism because of its status as leader.

I spent A LOT of money on Fantasy Grounds when my group considered switching - but when we all realized I had to have the game running for my players to access any of the info in the game, we instantly stopped (FG was fantastic about giving a refund, and their support was great).

We jumped back to Roll20...and it was like we all remembered what we liked about it. I love Roll20. I'm not a computer, tech guy - so its interface, accessibility, and learning curve are perfect for me.

That being said: I wish they had more Paizo products on there! I don't understand why they dropped Return of the Runelords support...

(I had never heard of Foundry until I saw this thread. Just poked around the website...and I'm just confused. Do they have actual content from modules/APs that can be input into a game. It's not an accessible website for folks like me.)

Howdy,

My group and I are close to wrapping up Rise of the Runelords - which, despite many of my best efforts - was a bit of a cakewalk.

(Well, they are headed into the final module, so maybe that one will be the end...)

At any rate, for our next AP, I want something much, much, much more challenging.

Of the APs that people have played, which offers the biggest challenge? My group tends to be gamerey btw, very much into stat max/min, etc. Unlike me.

Web is unbreakable. Flammable but unbreakable. This is the consensus? just want to be clear.

So - you're on one side of it. You want to get through to the other side without having to worry about being stuck. You can't cut it with ANYTHING? Only fire?

I'm having high level monster after monster (in dungeons) stuck in webs and having the party take them out while they trudge through it slowly. It's a pain.

Monsters have it rough.

Hello,

My Rise of the Runelords group has some questions about the second level Web spell.

To wit,
1. How can you break it without fire - is this possible?
2. Does it have a hardness? HP? What if you want to clear with a sword, can you?
2. If you free yourself from the webs of a square you were in and got entangled in, is the square clear now?

Our Wizard is 10th level. He uses Web more than any other spell. It's either amazingly useful, or we're doing it wrong.

Thanks for help,
smb

In two weeks, my Runelords group is going to continue the Stone Giants assault on Sandpoint, and face their first dragon - the juvenile Red Dragon, Longtooth.

Instead of inspiring fear when he appeared, as soon as the wizard saw him (10th level), he rushed to meet him, absolutey intoxicated with the thought of magic jarring him and possessing a dragon.

Now - this is kinda going to kill the encounter, because from what I understand, if the dragon doesn't make the 18 will save - which he does have better than a 50/50 chance by rolling an 8 or higher - but it's still too damned close to just totally killing the encounter. One spell, one dragon possessed, then it flies down to let the barbarian chop its head off.

Is it me - or does magic jar seem - well, a bit overpowered, or am I missing something?

Howdy folks,

I LOVE Pathfinder. I love the streamlined rules, the art, the feel of the game. The only thing I struggle with, and I have been DMing Rise of the Runelords for about 18 months now is how overpowered it often feels.

Now, I've mostly chalked that up to RotRL fast progression, so I haven't let it bother me too much (though I really really wish there was more danger to this campaign...)

...but finally, i hit a wall when the Wizard in our group got a follower from his leadership feat. I've had to upgrade monsters since the party has 5 people in it, but now - there's 6! And worse, she doesn't even entirely split the XP of the group. She's a ninja.

It's been tough enough making a challenge for everyone with 5, with 6, it will require a level of revision I don't feel quite up to. The group has suggested I RP the new ninja, which is fine, to send her off on errands or keep her away from combat, but that seems to nerf the intention of the feat entirely.

So...how do you handle this???! (and if you have extra bandwidth, anyone else find characters simply too powerful way too early?)

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I've got a minor problem in my RotRL campaign. It's too easy!

I've got five characters in the party (cleric, cleric, wizard, barbarian, and urban ranger) and they just hot knife through butter most of the encounters.

Even Xanesha in the clocktower was nothing more than a dispel fly spell away from a gory mess at the base of the clocktower.

Because it's 5 in the party, I've often added to the number of monsters, but that didn't seem to work, boosting the XP too much. So, I decided to play module as is, and hope the 5 characters dividing the XP will lower their levels enough that the difficulty will go up.

So far, having run 1,2 and almost a 1/3 through 3, I've only put one PC down. I'm actually considering letting them try to take Fort Rannick without Shalelu, Jaakardos, Kibb, Temros, and Kaven.

I'm an old-school DM who's used to high level difficulty with lethal traps and scary encounters which require creativity. With the wizard casting WEB, and the barbarian doing 40+ damage, battles just haven't been difficult.

To be fair, they are also a smart party, and have gotten pretty lucky, too.

Anyway - suggestions welcome.

I should add, I think they'd want to get in the Sat Intro sessions, and wouldn't want them to miss them if possible.

Hey DunDraPeeps,

I'm wondering if someone can help me out

Question - I signed up for Fri-Sun PFS games, so I'm good. But, I used the DDC site to answer an ad to split a hotel room with someone who is an old school D&D player (I haven't met them but chatted on phone) and told them about Pathfinder. They seemed pretty keen on trying it, but they didn't know anything about warhorn, and were just planning on signing up when the actual site registration is.

If they want to play PF, do they have to use warhorn, or will there still be Pathfinder games for them through the DDC site and the official registration?

Also, I'm too inexperienced to GM, but that late night Cyphermage game sounds RAD. Who do I have to shower with again?

I was pretty much out of the RPG scene from 2nd Ed until about 2 years ago when I discovered Pathfinder. Life had gotten in the way that RPGing wasn't an option, and all the rules changes (and also, I hated the 3-3.5 art which shouldn't be a reason, but...) seemed weird.

But then 2 years ago, I got back into it and found Pathfinder. A comprehensive rule set in one box with adventure paths that supported it which were so much better than any adventure I'd played, or could create.

I loved 2nd Ed, but after enough exposure to PF, I couldn't imagine going back.

Pathfinder BROUGHT ME BACK to roleplaying. Please, please no 2e. Streamline rules, collate rule sets into boxes/collections/compendiums - make tweaks, but please no major rule changes. Can't there be another business model that works than the 5 year new edition rule set?

I f#($* love, LOVE Pathfinder's rule set. I hope it's supported forever - and I wish the business model could be based on bringing new people to the game instead of bringing the same people new games over and over.

And I look forward to playing PF 1e's APs forever.

this is a friend of scott's, who got a message from him, who is pretty ill, and cant now make it to kubla con - he needs to cancel from all his games, and i just went through the warhorn site, and can't un-register him. if anyone knows how, he won't be able to attend.

Thanks - this is all so new for me. Looks like I have to say what type of char I'm bringing. Um, so, that means I have one more dumb question - how do I know how to create my char? Standard point buy....?

EDITED: Oh, look, there's a handy PDF on this site for organized play! I'll use that! If there's anything else I should know, though, I'm all ears.

How do I sign up for the Pathfinder games? They don't seem to be in their "event shuffler"? This is the first time I'm going to be at a con, but I really want to play as much PF as I can (be there all three days).

Love any help! I'm signed up for the sign, just want to make sure I get into the games - especially the multi-part ones.

I hate to be a flake - but after doing a ton of research, and reading a bunch of PbP games, I'm realizing it's probably not for me.

I can't see a viable way, with my fair but limited tech skill set, to run combat, and I put a lot of effort into campaigns and defn can see that people would come and go too often to keep it running.

So - I just put up a few notices here and I'm going to start running a new IRL campaign to supplement my ROTR game.

Sorry. Check with a fellow GM who just said most usually fall apart after session 4 or 5, which was depressing.

If anyone's in the Bay Area, I've got an opening, though!

Ah - yeah. So, yes, core PF/Paizo books allowed. Including APG, of course, and supplements, but nothing beyond that.

Ugh - I *AM* a PbP newbie. CR level? Challenge rating?

Templates are fine. I like characters with intriguing backstories to work into the campaign.

As to posting, again, I don't mind when people post, as long as they post enough that it keeps the campaign going at the one session/week pace. Being new to this, again, I don't know how many daily posts that would entail 1-2?

The idea is to run the entire adventure path, and right now, I'm leaning towards Council of Thieves.

The only thing I also would need to learn is how you run combat PbP. Anyway, happy to learn as long as the group wants to learn with me.

Also - I love the Dice Pool system for rolling a char, and again, depending on who's in, would like to use that. I'm realizing I might not be able to be as much of a stickler as I am with my home games!

Since I'm new to PbP, I don't know how many posts/day - like I said, I'd like to see what would be the PbP equivalent of one 4.5 hour session/week (what my IRL group does). But I'm happy to play by ear.

I'd also like to start with everyone rolling up new chars...though I suppose I'm amenable.

How much/many books wanting/allowing? Not sure what the question means, but defn all PF materials are game. Is that what you mean?

Hey folks,

I'm running Rise of the Runelords IRL, but it's not enough Pathfinder! Anyway, I have never played/run an RPG as a play-by-post but I would really like to, and I'm willing to run the CoT or SS adventure paths if people are interested.

I like putting time into a campaign, doing an Obsidian Portal, and keeping it running smoothly, and so much appreciate non-flakes when playing (which is easier, of course, to weed through in the "real world").

And - despite me seeming grouchy, I would have to ask the group to be somewhat forgiving of me getting up to speed running a pbp for the first time.

I would think the preferred speed would be if we could get what would amount to a IRL session done once/week.

One thing about me as a DM, I've been a gamer for a long time and swore by 2E until...well, until Pathfinder, and now for the first time I'm finding my love for classic D&D being replaced by this new ruleset (despite the fact that *grognard grumble*, characters are becoming superheroes...) but I am an old-school tough DM who makes players work for rewards, and cuts down on the magic equipment Just an FYI.

Let me know who's interested! I'd love to run one of the two ASAP!
If you're in, let me know and which you'd prefer.

Also - is this website the best to use for PbP or is there another one that works better?

THANKS!
