Hi while I really appreciate what 2 edition rules have done for druids and have I believe transferred an old character into a character that I believe gives me endless possibilities. Correct me if I am wrong from what I understood I was going to be able to craft my own druid without restriction. A kind of mix and match. This does not appear to be the case. I have chosen wild shape which I like and does seem to have more choices than the others. And yes I don't mind taking Ariel rather than turning into a dinosaur. But I was under the impression that I would be able to mix and match other druid pathways. But this does not make sense unless you have the prerequisites. To to this that then really restricts the point of following a pathway with a unique edge and therefore common sense suggests that people will follow the pathways and then players of druid will not have the unique character they imaged but on of a crowd of sameness. I may be wrong. I can also see how the druid could become overpowered. But making elemental shape change to level 10 etc helps with this. Don't get me wrong I am perfectly happy with the wild shape druid I have created. I also can see the spells I use will shape my character. Also as I stated at the start I do really like the change in the rules for a druid. But a part of me felt the changes that were being stated filled me with enthusiasm and reality has damped this a bit. (not a lot).
