TL:DR

How were the fixed PE numbers calculated for Psychic Magic creatures?

Long Version:

Whilst comparing various creatures from The Occult Bestiary and Bestiary 5, I realised that the fixed PE numbers for Pyschic Magic appears, at first glance, to follow some hidden mathematical formula or is just applied as an arbitrary value.

I presumed it would follow the 10 + 1/2 HD + ability calculation. I'm going to presume Con for the ability as the Brain Mole has a Con of 13 for a +1 bonus.

For example :- B5

CR1 Brain Mole HD 2, CL 2nd = 12PE ( Base 10 + HD + Con ) seems okay

CR 5 Brain Mole Monarch HD 6, CL 6th = 16PE ( Base 10 + HD + Con +2 ) 15PE ?

CR 9 Caller in Darkness HD 13, CL 10th = 12PE ( Base 10 + HD + Cha +3 ) 19PE ?? Undead

Occult Bestiary

CR 5 Vayuphak, HD 8, CL 5th = 7PE ( Base 10 + HD + Con +1 ) 15PE????

CR 15 Uinuja, HD 18, CL 18th = 24PE ( Base 10 + HD + Con +6 ) 25PE?

and so forth.

So how were the numbers derived?

Yes, About time.:)

May be an obvious question but would like to clarify:-

Gestalt (Su)

Nine lantern archons can fuse together as a full-round action, becoming a single Large entity that is more powerful than the individual archons that make up its parts. Looking like a whirlwind of dancing firefly lights, the gestalt has all the powers and abilities of a Large air elemental plus the following: archon, good, and lawful subtypes; archon traits (aura of menace DC 16); 2 light rays (2d6); DR 5/evil and magic. The archons can remain in this form for 2d4 rounds. When the gestalt separates back into individual lantern archons, its remaining hit points are divided evenly among them; if it had less than 9 hit points, some of the component archons die when the gestalt ends.

Does that include the Air, Elemental and Extraplanar subtypes too?

The text seems to infer using a Large air elemental from the bestiary as base stats but add the archon abilities to it as a template style addition.

Okay Paizonians, I'm asking this here because I'm unsure if it needs to be in the general discussion area or elsewhere.

Here goes, as Hero Lab has been licensed as the official Character creator for the Pathfinder RPG would it be a future possibility for the Golarion IP to be licensed to the new Realmworks campaign manager software? Link below to screenshots currently in closed Beta though.

Lone Wolf Development Realmworks

I for one would love to have a fully supported and licensed campaign manager. Just a thought:)

Okay, I can't find this referenced anywhere on the boards as the Draconomicon isn't SRD however, as pathfinder Missed the opportunity for an Undead Dragon template in the Bestiary I thought i'd have a go at comparing a PFRPG Ancient Blue Dragon with the Lich Template, against the sample Ancient Blue Dracolich in the Draconomicon and the SRD Monster Manual Ancient Blue Dragon.

I'm considering converting a current D20 campaign from Paizo with a really humongous Dracolich in an encounter into Pathfinder, but I needed to see what the alterations would do to the encounter.

I'm a bit of a sadist so I wrote down all the pertinent abilities just to compare once the various templates had been applied.

I've omitted the Special feats and stuff as the numbers are the most important thing for the time being.

Any ideas from the good folks of the Paizo messageboards how this could be implemented, with minor disruption to the original creature?

And finally, Please Paizo, in the Next Bestiary can we have an official Undead Dragon template to play with? As a certain geographical Fissure is calling, to my players!
