I am currently running the AP using this system and I decided to make exactly the same adjustments as you for Gather Information, Mentor and Interact. I also added an extra possible action which is Craft. It represents the PCs spending their free time crafting equipment. I give them half a roll (rounded down) if taken once and full roll if taken twice. In this AP it makes a lot more of sense that the PCs will be crafting their own equipment than in the traditional modules because of the availability of materials and them not being on the road all the time.
Haven't read through it yet, but congratulations on all the hard work you put into it. I will definitely get into reading it as I assume it will prove easier for me to translate from english than german (I will translate the whole script to spanish and hand each player a copy) I am still unsure as far as the number of players go because I lost a player before even starting the AP, and now I lost another one who got a job during the weekends, so now instead of having the problem of too many players I have too few. But I am looking into the possibility of bringing in new players just for the play. The more, the merrier :D
I started the AP a few sessions ago and my party is about to go after the bastards. I made several small changes to try to foreplay the most I could. * I had them be present at a public execution carried out by Signifer Verennie and had the people present make casual comments about her ruthlessnes. I am planning on putting her somewhat in contrast to the paralictor in future sessions so it make more sense that they help him (or her) in book 6
I know this thread is really old but I am currently running the AP and wanted to share what I did with bluehood. I turned her into Vahnwynne Malkistra, the elf vampire hunter from book 3. That allowed me to fill in a little foreshadowing of the vampire theme that pops up later in the AP. I didn't reveal much to the PCs though, other than her mere presence in the city and the fact that she came from a distant land searching for revenge. (They knew she was a vampire hunter because she was armed with stakes) The PCs tried to recruit her, she refused but showed a hint of interest. When they meet her later in book 3 she will still confront them, but I expect there will be a little more of hesitation (and roleplaying) on both sides which will make for a much more flavorful encounter
I was also thinking about using the Nine-Section Whip. Then I read a lot (A LOT) of threads in this forum about the ruling of the Perfect Strike feat (it has a very specific list of weapons it applies to) and got a little scared I might break the game. In the end I ruled that the feat could only be used with monk weapons that have a critical threat range of 20 (ruling out the 9-s whip) and decided to give Mathalen a home-made weapon consisting of a stick with a curved blade in the end (basically, a kama with a very forced explanation to fit a western setting).

This is particularly important if she becomes a Weapon Adept as she cannot benefit from Perfect Strike. Or maybe I am missing something
This is awesome! I will definitely be using this as a base for my own dusk market. I noticed nobody mentioned Jarvis Albrecht, the informant from Mother of Flies, who is described as an active member of the underground or his contact, Goren One-ear, who is specifically described as a store owner in the dusk market (though, they never say what is his trade)
Hi! I am about to get started with Bastards... my group is very likely to end up being 5 players with a possible unconfirmed 6th. I am in the process of translating the provided play to Spanish (will share when that's done) but I would really appreciate the extra lines as I have no talent at all as a writer terevalis AT gmail DOT com GMRich has not created a profile. |
