I have been running AoW for a couple of sessions now.
The party, after the encounter with Alastor agree to return his bones to the family plot. After arrival in Diamond Lake the group splits up, here's what happened.
The party's Cleric and Fighter take Alastor's remains to the Land family plot and discover the graves were recently excavated. They check out the house and from the windows see the injured owlbear and its baby. They decide to use a surprise ranged attack against momma-owlbear. They both hit and it enrages her. She dives through the back windows of the home and melee ensues. After she gets a few good hits in the two pc's kill her. They find the arm with the tattoo, bag up the baby and take it to the Bronzewood Lodge. A ranger at the lodge takes the owlbear off of the pc's hand, and offers them a meal. They accept and over dinner they tell the ranger about the graves. He makes note of this and promises to spread the word to his men that there are grave robbers. The pc's want no reward, but they take his offer of a broach signifying them as friends of the Lodge.
The pc's use some local knowledge to realize the arm belonged to one of Smenk's newer hires.
During this time the groups Enchanter and his faithful half orc barbarian bodyguard take the remains of another body, bones of a small child they found in the cairn to Diamond Lake.
The wizard knows a rumor about a small girl who went missing years ago and finds her parents, thinking these are possibly her bones. The mother doesn't want to believe her child is dead and wants them to investigate this matter further. She tells them Allustan, "the smartest man in Diamond Lake", may be able to confirm the death.
They head to Allustan's home and find him in his garden. He takes an interest in their tales of the cairn and knows a cleric in town who "may" be able to help in identifying the bones. He agrees to take the body. Allustan asks the pc's a number of questions and realizes they may be a good source of information regarding the cairn. They become friendly, the pc's now have him as an ally.
At this time the rogue and sorcerer have been back in Diamond Lake. The rogue heads to the Emporium where he was employed, keeping an ear open for possible info and earning some extra coin.
The player playing the sorcerer has him disappear as he didn't like the character and rolled up a fighter. The new pc knows the rogue and is brought in later.
The group meets up the next day as they discussed. The task at hand is to find out what's going on with Smenk and the graves.
The party scouts out his residence and see's three thugs patroling his street. The enchanter wants to get one of thugs alone, knock him out and disguise himself as one of the thugs to gain entrance to the Smenk residence. I don't really want this to go down.
They go to a small restaraunt on the vein and keep checking the status of the thugs waiting for them to end their shift. Eventually the thugs are replaced. Two of them head home and one heads to the Feral Dog. I place Kullen and his goons in the bar. The party's fighter heads in to start some trouble, hopefully provoking a fistfight with the thug and being able to carry him off so the enchanter can do his thing.
As he walks in he notices Kullen's tattoo on his head. He still wants the thug though and pretty much ignores Kullen.
The thug whispers something in Kullen's ear. The thug, Kullen, and Kullen's crew head outside, hopefully getting the lone trouble maker to follow.
The rest of the party waits outside and the fighter soon exits after the thug.
a fight starts and the party is able to ( very luckily ) knock out the group. Body's are moved behind the Feral Dog and bound. The qustioning and intimidation begin. Kullen's boy Merovinn blurts out telling of them digging the bodies up for some guy named Filge.
After the questioning the party decides to take the prisoners to the local Chapel of Heironeous. The party's fighter role plays this so well, telling the cleric's that these are grave robbers working for someone who recently moved into the old observatory and these men should be jailed ( but in much more detail and with conviction ).
The session ends and now I'm stuck wondering if Smenk will get his gang out of jail because of his connections or whatever.
I hate asking questions regarding my campaign but what do you guys think will happen to the prisoners and is there anything else that should happen related to this??????
Thanks for reading that mess of a story...it's late and I need rest after running that and a Wilderlands game today.
