The policy was:
In terms of time also...that is the slot that is currently dedicated to gaming for my core group. I mention flexibility in case that has to change sometime- like say being shortened and moved to another day one week vs another. However, that Friday slot for now is the expected time. Keep in mind that as of now this is still in an interest gathering/checking phase also. I really want to see if there are enough people out there that both a) seem like good stock (trust me, if you don't know, there's a lot of weird and flakyness out there) and b) number enough to fill out the group. Currently, I'm running a lot of PFS because I know I can successfully prep those week to week and am working with this group through Season 4. I *believe* I can successfully prep week to week for the AP as well (it occurred to me that it's pretty much the same thing as the scenarios I've been prepping, but I just need to break it into chunks and prep week to week), but that's something I would experiment with before starting this out and letting down everyone. If we had an overwhelming response here and I liked what I saw (meaning I can identify people I'd want to take on), I might accelerate the time table to try to get this going again. ![]()
Forthepie wrote: Just to be clear you are talking about playing from 7PM Central to 1AM or later? That's correct. In terms of character creation, we'd use the information in the free Player's Guide for Curse of the Crimson Throne except that you wouldn't use any of the campaign traits. Instead, anyone that was accepted into the campaign and was certain they wanted to do this would be given a rundown of some of the events of Chapters 1-3 and they would have a very clear hook and motivation that would insert them quite readily into Chapters 4-6. Starting gold would be 64,000 gold. And then as per the rules: "Characters should spend no more than half their total wealth on any single item. For a balanced approach, PCs that are built after 1st level should spend no more than 25% of their wealth on weapons, 25% on armor and protective devices, 25% on other magic items, 15% on disposable items like potions, scrolls, and wands, and 10% on ordinary gear and coins. Different character types might spend their wealth differently than these percentages suggest; for example, arcane casters might spend very little on weapons but a great deal more on other magic items and disposable items." ![]()
Dear potential players, This is an interest check for Pathfinder's Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path: Chapters 4-6 to be played online via Roll20. You would be joining precisely at the climactic middle point of the campaign. Previously, I was running this campaign and it collapsed due to an abrupt loss of two players due to their lives at first, as well as my inability to keep up with the pace of prep due to starting a new job. After changing my expectations of myself and my prep style, I potentially have interest in resuming the AP with two of my long haul players. I have consistently DMd for 3 years or so and love doing it. This is a long-term and committed group of roleplayers who enjoy combat. If you are a combat junky and only want to do that, you would hate my group. If you are a dramatic actor that only wants to RP and hates combat, you would hate my group. We would want solid people willing to step into the Crimson Throne campaign, write their backgrounds to fit a later entry, and get up to speed/roll with the plot details. You need to be someone that is very go with the flow, not fussy, and understanding that we are all real people with lives (especially your DM). You also need to be someone that is up for whatever and really just loves Pathfinder. There may be some weeks where I can't prep and have to fall back on a PFS scenario or take a week off- and I need to know you're a solid. As a DM I have high expectations of myself and the players. Rise of the Runelords (when I ran it) went for a year and a half or so because of all of my additions and successfully completed. I tried to give Crimson the same treatment, and that was what doomed me in combination with the new job. Instead, I will be dressing it up as much as I feasibly can and prepping week to week rather than leagues ahead of the PCs at one time. Much will have to be done on an honor system. For example, I tell the party what they discovered in terms of loot, but it is up to them to sell/buy and manage what the party gets in town. Anything I can do to make it so all I have to focus on is prep. If you sign up, I expect commitment to a Friday night slot for 6-8 hours. We start at about 7:00 PM CST. The more flexible you are with what days you can play and when, the better. Flexibility allows us to adjust if necessary. You should have little to no distractions during the time you can play and should be playing as if you were right there with us at the table. If you would be interested in joining our long term group (who will be working its way through the other Pathfinder APs regardless) and want a place you can call your RPG gaming home- please email aurick427@yahoo.com and express your interest. In terms of specific characters: we are looking for a solid cleric or divine support/healer and a ranged class of some sort- arcane is fantastic, but martial would also work. Starting out, you would be 10th level and be given standard starting wealth for that level to buy gear. I can also potentially take a 5th person of whatever class, but would rather not take a 6th. Whether or not this happens and when it happens (it may be a few months from now, but could be sooner if overwhelming response) depends on the interest I get. So please write, sell me that it would work, and tell me what you're interested in. ![]()
This will be the start of a new conglomeration, and hopefully a network, of players that I can draw on to run Pathfinder Society scenarios. We will be running the first of the three scenario sequence that is designed to introduce a new player to the Pathfinder Society setting, its ten factions, and what their adventuring life will be like in organized play. It is one of the best on-ramps to organized play and the event is intended for beginners. In signing up and being accepted, you are committing to *all 3* Introductory scenarios with this group to be played within the next month sometime. I have space for 2 PCs. Players must be 1st level. Players need not select a faction in advance, as these are designed to enable an informed choice at their conclusion, will advance to 2nd level upon successful completion of all 3, and will have any prestige points awarded to the faction of their choice at conclusion. Players are expected to:
Respond ASAP with interest/an introduction (to my email address) and realize that all materials must be in and approved by me by next Wednesday for the game next Friday. If I cannot fit all the qualified folks who are interested into this game, I will make a list with your email addresses/Paizo names. Please know it is likely I will be running them again or other first tier things in the very near future. Game Date: April 19th, Friday, 7PM CST - midnight CST
Thanks,

Spoiler: Two Side Treks that are possible just using the information given to you in the beastiary involve the Attic Whisperer and the Goblin Snake. Think about using the death of the girl in the mill pond as a reason for the whisperer to be created and then the goblin snake can be terrorizing the junkpiles, reinforcing the goblins' salvaging efforts. ![]()
See below. Im looking for players to flesh out my first or second group in my 6 months going campaign. Please reply here or email me at aurick427@yahoo.com. This game is run through freeware called Maptools, rather easy to learn and use. We play on Mondays and Wedensdays from 9 PM EST to about midnight EST. I also have a second group that plays once a week on Thursdays at 8 PM EST. Attributes are random and drop lowest. May generate up to 3 arrays and pick the best one. HPs are max HD at first level and roll or take the median value at each level after that. You will join as a level 3. Im looking for 2-3 players, and I want to know more about your gaming philosophy. Slow levelling, epic storyline, cool atmosphere. I draw from many sources, including past editions, but always convert to 3.5. Currently, the campaign has taken a horror/scary/gothic spin, but its always D&D and its always fantasy. It draws heavily on Ravenloft-inspiration, but I would request that anyone playing in this campaign not read any materials about it. My players have enterred a new world and are trying to explore and figure out their surroundings. It'd be a perfect time for you to be written in as a 3rd level character. My campaign is a long term campaign, most of the members are solid and dedicated to keeping it going. In it for the long haul. We could use a cleric or druid (possibly a bard), but could maybe work something else out. Let me know if you're interested ASAP after reading the original ad below. You wouldnt have the same background and would be written in to the current plot, but you really havent missed much considering the scope of the campaign and this group. -Matt Hello all! Are you new to D&D or intermediate and not mind playing with a DM that is fairly new, but newly seasoned? Im your guy. I am running a home brewed campaign with, by all accounts from my current player group, a killer story. I want to meet once or twice a week in the afternoons or evenings. New? No problem. Will help you with character creation and even with picking out a class. See below for what I will need from you and a plot hook. Post here or email me at aurick427@yahoo.com if interested and you want to talk in real time. I check my email religously, so if you want to chat on AIM or whatever, email me there and let me know your screenname. Books you might want:
From each player I will require these things:
To help you with 2, Each of you hails from an ancestral land specializing in the training of the class that you are a part of (I give you liberty here to describe your homeland however you like and your entire life history). At a young age, you were marked as "Adept" and whisked away to an academy where your life was hard, consisted of much training, and grooming for a purpose that not even your elders have explicity shared with you. One day, your training ends with an abrupt message, the world cannot wait anymore and the time of the ancient tradition is now. You are told to leave your academy, given starting supplies/armor/and weapons (1 masterwork weapon and 1500 gold to spend on armor and other supplies) and told to meet other representatives of the various academies in what is known as "The Unspeakable Summit." You are mistrustful of these other representatives (your party members), but you respect one another as representations of power in different forms, and as part of a tradition honored by all people. On your way to the summit, however, you are overtaken by a storm of sorts you have never seen before. A huge wall of cold, black, mist washed over you...and when it does...you think you hear a coarse laughter. Everything goes dark. You wake up in a very strange, very scary place. Here the story begins. What we need is a story that ends in your being swallowed by black mist on the way to the Summit. Thanks! ![]()
Im a very new DM looking to start a D&D 3.5 group using mostly pre-written adventures. The group is targetted towards newer players who are unsure of rules or whatever and want to learn how to play. Im interested in learning through experience. Email me if you are a new gamer or someone that simply wants to learn D&D. |
