Zeph uses his gift for language to read the contract and find any interesting loopholes.

Linguistic 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (19) + 23 = 42

Once he is satisfied that there are no surprises, Zeph makes his mark, all the while looking intently at Toff.

Did any of my rolls yield anything useful?

Roll Sense Motive 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (3) + 23 = 26

Zeph casually attempts to sense the Headmaster's mood, suspecting an ill-motive on his part.

Knowledge (History) to remember anything odd about the history of the Breaching Festival 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (5) + 23 = 28

Knowledge (Local) to remember anything about local politics that may be motivating the Headmaster to do as he is now doing 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (11) + 23 = 34

For the DM

Spoiler:
Zeph hates Toff's guts btw for leaving him and his mother.

Hey Zeph does he know who/what you are? And if so what kind of relationship do you guys have?

Yes. He knows Zeph's identity and Zeph already figured it out too but for various reasons they have not acknowledged that relationship to each other though Toff was the one who secretly paid for Zeph's tuition. So they remain formally headmaster and graduate.

"Greetings, Headmaster. It is Zeph. Graduated several years ago. With honors."

Zeph then looks Toff straightly.

"Why the urgency to produce a winner now that you'd bend the rules, Headmaster?"

"I suspect traps... magical ones."

Zeph scratches his chin, "We'll know more I suppose after meeting with the Headmaster."

The secretary gets a proud look on her face and smiles up at Zeph "Yes we are, very good for you knowing that, not many do."

** spoiler omitted **

"I would not be a very loyal graduate if I forgot that fact," Zeph tells the secretary. "Would it be possible to purchase some things I need?

GM, Can I roll Knowledge (History) to know something about the others? Perhaps a tale or two I can confront them with hehehehe

Turning to the others, Zeph says, "I am pleased to make all of your acquaintance. For those of you that I have not had the pleasure of going on a delve, I am Zeph, a graduate of this school."

Zeph waits for Silas to answer the question about the Breaching Festival before adding, "The Breaching Festival is a once a year event in this school where contestants attempt to breach warded halls of the school. As you may gather from that and this school's reputation, the event is quite serious and lethal. And I don't recall any recent winners."

Zeph notices Erik, "Ah, Erik, great to see you. The Headmaster roped you in too in this little event. Last I saw you, you were on the trail of some dragon or another."

Zeph, a slight tattooed man of mixed Chelaxian and Varisian parentage wearing gray robes, looks at the secretary, "While waiting for the headmaster, I'd like to know something: Is the Acadamae still the premier source of spell components in Varisia?"

Zeph silently compares his memories of Ornelos Hall with its present appearance, noting any changes. He smiles at the secretary. "Hello. The headmaster is expecting me. Tell him it is Zeph."

Zeph extends his greetings to Tien, Amarantha and Reikananths.

Just woke up. Description of Zeph to follow.

"What kept you? I have been waiting since the signs said the headmaster needs me," says Zeph.

Zeph smiles at the woman in response to her congratulations.

Gathering up his gear, "Very well, take me to the headmaster."

Am not going to be using my teleport spell. oh and is the woman beautiful?

GM can we still make last minute purchases?

To my fellow players, anyone wanna have our characters know each other prior to the adventure? say from a previous dungeon delve?

Reporting for duty.

Thank you thank you Mathpro.

I don't think Silas and I will be getting on each other's toes.

Aside from the spell component pouch any other mundane item I should bring along?

On a personal note, I live in a different time zone from most of you. Philippines to be precise. So I will be awake when most of you are asleep, please bear with me. I have been gaming since highschool (way back in the 80s) but I have not been in a face-to-face game since 2007, as all my gaming buds moved away. (Though I have an L5R game set on Sunday) Nevertheless I have been involved in PBPs since that time, playing DND, Pathfinder, Warhammer, Paranoia, Call of Cthulhu, etc.

Timeline-wise, do I assume correctly that the game is set after the Curse of the Crimson Throne AP?

Again, thank you for choosing me.
