Just wondering if anyone else has had jokes made about the Age of Worms while playing it?

In a silly moment last night I make a crack about the threat to the game world of 'Global Worming'...

RPGenius has moved sites. They are now hosted here.

Per a previous thread, I thought that was another site that happened to have some of the RPGenius material - but unfortunately very little (1 file) of the Age of Worms material that RPGenius had.

Just wondering if anyone has switched from 3.5 to the Pathfinder RPG for the Age of Worms adventure path and has any experiences to share?

E.g. How does the channel positive energy mechanism (in place of turning undead) work for the Age of Worms?

I left the items as is, althought I fudged how one or two of the items worked.

My personal view would be that cursed items work well as another type of challenge for the players, as long as they're not overused, and there are ways to remove the curse.

I don't remember what my group did with the grimoire. The Dagger was handed over to a good church for destruction.

The Periapt I had work slightly differently, reducing 1-3 of the stats (determined at random) each week, to avoid the player in question turning to the rules and determining what course of action was required to correct the problem.

The player tried a number of things, and the periapt led the PC to seek out the Librarian-Priest in Magepoint for advice. The player enjoyed using disintegrate to rid the world of the periapt, once the cure was determined and the PC cured of the curse.

The cursed sword was grabbed by the party's Druid/Barbarian, who didn't use it for quite some time. The group was able to subdue the PC after it's first use, and the threat of the PC using it again became a recurring joke.

The Griffon I modified to require a control check by the PC, with the Griffon having some ability to act on it's own. If the check was made, then the PC could direct the Griffon, although the PC would sense that the Griffon was fighting that. If the check failed, then the Griffon would act as written.

The party's Paladin picked up the Griffon... and didn't seek to use it until the group had determined that both the sword and the periapt were cursed items. Suspecting it was as well, the Paladin went to use it - and made a successful check. The Griffon is now a museum piece in MagePoint's Library.

With spells per day, for those classes where a level in the prestige class gives them new spells per day as if the character had also gained a level in an arcane spellcasting class they previously belonged to ...

Could it be made really clear that this does or does not effect spells known / spells added to spellbooks ?

This is one of my gripes with 3.5 - that the wording can be interpreted in two ways (yes, you do know/have more spells in your spellbook || no, all you get is the extra spell slots, not spells known/in your spellbook).

A post on Canonfire led me to "The Directing Oligarchs of Greyhawk" - http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/lgpg/20080418a - which answers most of my questions :)

Wow - thanks for that.

So in addition to Derider Fanshen leaving the Oligarchy, it looks like Sir Anton Palmitian and Jerome Kasinskaia are no longer there in 595.

The Adventure Begins has Stimtrim Cannasay as a representative of the Union of Merchants & Traders.

Anyone know the story behind Tigran Gellner moving to the Militia and Sir Gavin Ambus's promotion from guildmaster of the Nightwatchmen?

Wonderful! Thanks - is there anything that's been published that updates any of those details for 595 CY? e.g. Is the Oligarchy still the same four years later?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for where I could find out the membership of the Ruling Oligarchy?

What are people's thoughts on whether Spawn are smart enough to play dead?

I've had the odd one play dead once or twice when not playing dead would just see them get beaten down. However, in checking their intelligence score (6 IIRC), I'm not sure if I'm entirely playing fair or not?

We'll probably make this happen, but the art director for the project is on a well-deserved vacation at the moment.

Thanks for the printable versions in today's update!

Work-around found here ...

All I want to do is hit print on the pdf and have my network printer spit out the pages - not choke and die which it was doing repeatedly yesterday, even though I tried some tricks and even tried printing only a few pages at a time.

If you have lots of spare time, yes, sure, you could spend some hours copying, pasting and reformatting. Unfortunately I don't :|

Would it be possible to get a pdf of the Alpha rules that's been optimised for black and white printing?

Due to a player departing overseas, our existing tabletop roleplaying group in Hamilton, New Zealand is looking for new players to join us as we play through the Paizo published Age of Worms campaign (3.5E D&D) -

In the rough-and-tumble mining town of Diamond Lake, a group of young adventurers have sought adventure in an ancient tomb. There they have found the adventure they were looking for, and more beyond - including dark activities going on in their community involving a mysterious Age of Worms.

The campaign includes dungeon (tomb) crawls, investigation and intrigue, overground travel, wilderness and urban adventures as characters progress from low levels (we're currently 3rd) to level 20.

We play role playing games to have fun, which we find through a mixture of playing styles, in DM-specific campaigns with one character each. D&D we currently play with the core 3.5 rules, some supplements and a few house rules.

We currently play Wednesday nights from ~7:30pm to ~9:30pm-10:00pm at various locations around Hamilton, New Zealand.

Email ageofworms.bgnz@gmail.com, send a PM or reply to this post for more details.
