still here

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Dang, good luck with the hurricane damage.

I'll be around when you return.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel returns to the makeshift barracks, preferably after getting some sort of hot food and maybe half a wineskin. He will inventory his bruises gained from bumping into things on the course and contemplate the day's events.

Well, this won't do. I should have been towards the back of the class. Now they'll want to keep me. Well, if they're going to keep me, hopefully I can be an officer or something.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel remains quiet, not engaging the people unless asked, in which case he will reply that he is an arcane scholar.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel marches, using his staff as a walking stick.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel steps into the formation, looking around for clues what to do.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

"Yeah, sounds fine. Nature hike probably won't kill me. Just haven't done one in a decade or more."

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

"Well, alright. I'll follow as well as my old bones can take me."

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

"oh, uh... these are my things. I usually stay in the inn so i hope you have a tent or something."

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

"Oh, this doesn't sound good. I am not what you'd call... good at camping. Or finding my way around. I am more the sort you'd bring the prisoners to, rather than low-crawling through mud or whatever it is you all do."

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel walks over to his assigned regiment quietly and observes.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

"Very well then. I wouldn't want anyone thinking they could escape. My name is Zamiel. I am a scholar and mage. I specialize in magics of the mind. I have never interrogated anyone before, but I could perhaps glean things not said if a professional were interrogating someone, if you catch my meaning. I have no combat experience save the hazards of field work. Delving ruins, abominations and the like, though I was never the heavy-lifter when the blades were drawn."

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

In response to when his question is answered, Zamiel asks another question.

"To be clear, the other cities will be drafting people as well then? I wouldn't want any sneaky people fleeing here only to find solace in the bosom of another town that is not under your martial law."

Anyone got any ideas of why I might go to the recruitment table?

honor isn't one of my strong suits and I think my character's first priority would be to warn their family, otherwise ima need to be drafted rather forcefully. :P

right now, they're eyeing you. if you sign up now, even under a fake name, there will probably be chances later to ditch them.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel will stand in place, not wanting to be swept away. When a moment comes that he can move freely without being trampled, he asks simply, "Was this announcement made in all of the cities in the country? Or is this city just the enterprising sort that plans to defend the whole nation?"

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Zamiel makes his way quickly to the gathering to take in this most important announcement.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

it's all good haha

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel heads down to the common area after collecting his things from his room, then looks to see what is happening as far as breakfast is concerned. He will ask the staff what time the big announcement is to be today.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel checks into an inn, and looks for the nicest reasonably-priced inn. A place with individual rooms, meals that include meat other than varmint if possible, non-stale bread and more than poor ale or moonshine to drink.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Having nothing better to do, Zamiel will spend a reasonable amount of time looking for the dog. If he doesn't find it by dinnertime, he will chalk it up as a loss and a lesson learned on the child's part and go find himself some dinner and perhaps a glass of wine or two before bed.

Something tells me I'll want to be well rested for the announcement.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel starts down the way the child points, looking for the dog but keeping his wits about him.

survival to track the dog: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

well, it doesnt seem like an obvious trap on the girl's part, so Zamiel will stop.

"Where did the dog go? What did the dog and the doll look like?"

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

does this seem like the sort of town that has a reputation for a bit of crime? If so, I keep going, thinking that it is probably a trap for thugs to blackjack the back of my head. if it seems like a relatively peaceful town, Zamiel will stop and see why the child is crying (though against his nature slightly, as I see him as one part curmudgeonly one part congenial). If he stops to see what is up and the child runs down the alley, he certainly will NOT follow it.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

"Hmm, troublesome. Thank you for the info, and I'll keep my eye out for that blade-belt. Or at least some gold to spend here! Hah!"

Assuming the man has nothing more to say, Zamiel will leave the shop and head down the road to the other magical shop and repeat his former line of inquiry.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel:
"Oh, I'd heard there were troubles. How close are we to the nearest position that was taken? Are there any scouts or signal fires that would warn this settlement well in advance?" As Zamiel asks the questions, he things on what he knows already regarding the situation.

Knowledge (Engineer): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Knowledge (geography): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Knowledge (history): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

zamiel:
"thanks for the information. I'll keep an eye out for one. Any interesting news around here? I just got in town, havent been here in over a year."

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiel:
"I don't want to waste your time, I don't have much gold on me so I won't be purchasing anything at the moment. However, I was wondering if there were any items you had heard tell of, and perhaps were offering a 'finder's fee' or trade or commission for?"

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiell, newly arrived in town but having been here a time or two before, makes his way down the main street headed towards the closer of the two shops he knew that sold magical items.

I don't have enough gold to buy, but maybe the merchants are looking for something and I can earn myself a finder's fee.

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

gm:
is there anything like a curio shop, library, etc in this city?

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

I am most likely from Sanlow and was passing through the city for some reason.

Re: last names

Good idea. But names are difficult for me, i feel like i see generator names all the time, now i gotta make 2 names? Gah! Haha

Male Human Symbiat 3//Incanter 3

Zamiell, reporting in.

I may write my name as Zamiel. I only added the extra L on my alias because Zamiel with one L was already taken.

Excellent! Thanks for selecting me!
