![]() Zamiel returns to the makeshift barracks, preferably after getting some sort of hot food and maybe half a wineskin. He will inventory his bruises gained from bumping into things on the course and contemplate the day's events. Well, this won't do. I should have been towards the back of the class. Now they'll want to keep me. Well, if they're going to keep me, hopefully I can be an officer or something. ![]()

![]() "Very well then. I wouldn't want anyone thinking they could escape. My name is Zamiel. I am a scholar and mage. I specialize in magics of the mind. I have never interrogated anyone before, but I could perhaps glean things not said if a professional were interrogating someone, if you catch my meaning. I have no combat experience save the hazards of field work. Delving ruins, abominations and the like, though I was never the heavy-lifter when the blades were drawn." ![]()

![]() In response to when his question is answered, Zamiel asks another question. "To be clear, the other cities will be drafting people as well then? I wouldn't want any sneaky people fleeing here only to find solace in the bosom of another town that is not under your martial law." ![]()

![]() Zamiel will stand in place, not wanting to be swept away. When a moment comes that he can move freely without being trampled, he asks simply, "Was this announcement made in all of the cities in the country? Or is this city just the enterprising sort that plans to defend the whole nation?" ![]()

![]() Having nothing better to do, Zamiel will spend a reasonable amount of time looking for the dog. If he doesn't find it by dinnertime, he will chalk it up as a loss and a lesson learned on the child's part and go find himself some dinner and perhaps a glass of wine or two before bed. Something tells me I'll want to be well rested for the announcement. ![]()

![]() does this seem like the sort of town that has a reputation for a bit of crime? If so, I keep going, thinking that it is probably a trap for thugs to blackjack the back of my head. if it seems like a relatively peaceful town, Zamiel will stop and see why the child is crying (though against his nature slightly, as I see him as one part curmudgeonly one part congenial). If he stops to see what is up and the child runs down the alley, he certainly will NOT follow it. ![]()

![]() "Hmm, troublesome. Thank you for the info, and I'll keep my eye out for that blade-belt. Or at least some gold to spend here! Hah!" Assuming the man has nothing more to say, Zamiel will leave the shop and head down the road to the other magical shop and repeat his former line of inquiry. ![]()

![]() Zamiell, newly arrived in town but having been here a time or two before, makes his way down the main street headed towards the closer of the two shops he knew that sold magical items. I don't have enough gold to buy, but maybe the merchants are looking for something and I can earn myself a finder's fee. |
