Yuta looks down at his semi-auto pistol in disgust as he realizes it's not going to do much good, and his other weapon is still afflicted with a curse. "If you intend to eat us, I have no reason to hold back," he calmly announces to the fey creature. He lifts his left arm with the palm facing out and forces out three bolts of magical energy. (Full round magic missile)

I've been busy with Easter all weekend and won't have time to post until tomorrow. You can bot me if you need to move ahead before then.

Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Yuta nods confirmation. "Arratoi is correct. I do not know what the source or purpose of these illusions could be, other than to throw us into confusion. Do not succumb."

He moves into the room and looks under the table and in other likely places, for anything else informative or suspicious. As he does so, he says, "The mushrooms have been more prolific the further we have come. It is possible their source will be on the other side of this level."

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

If he doesn't see anything of interest, he'll move quickly to open the other door and go down the hallway.

Stymied for the moment, Yuta postpones an attempt at hacking through the door until they've searched the room. He checks over the lights, photograph, chairs, and circle of paint to see if any of them have magical properties.

He also searches the desk for any sign of a keycard or other useful clues.

Yuta feels a slight chill at the odd happenings, but he reminds himself to stay rational in the situation.

"That didn't sound like it was real," he announces, and marches over to the eastern door.

The rest of the group hasn't had a chance to react yet, but if nobody stops him or has a better idea, he will open the door.

While the group rests, Yuta watches Chivix with silent concern, and then casts Detect Affliction over him to see how bad the damage is. "I fear that I cannot help you, friend Chivix. Living beings are not my area of expertise. If we encounter any further radiation dangers, one of us will enter instead of you." He says this firmly, and then returns his attention to their assigned task.

As they approach the next entrance, he pulls out his semi-auto pistol again, and re-fills the rounds that he used earlier. "Let us be prepared for anything."

Not sure if Yuta can even see the door from way back in line, but he'll look around.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Yuta eyes the small gap dubiously as everyone else slips nimbly through and starts leaving him behind. "I... will wait out here. Let me know if you need help."

I can attempt the check if we need to keep moving that way, but if the team is just going to mark some weapons and come back Yuta prefers not to embarrass himself.

Yuta carefully examines the mushrooms without touching them. "The ones on these walls have lost their caps, and it does not look as though they have fallen off naturally. It is likely that someone or something has harvested them." He pauses, and though his expression doesn't change he adds, "I find it disturbing that there are so many mushrooms here, and that some being has been eating them."

He notes the functional computer, but takes his time to search the room and the physical computer before attempting to access it.

While Arratoi inspects the reactor and computers, Yuta looks for any more clues about what left mushrooms here and there.

"I can continue," Yuta responds mildly. He pokes around among the eggs while he's standing next to them. "These look as though they might explode on impact. They may prove useful." He picks up several handfuls and offers them to Julakesh, since she enjoyed the bug explosion so audibly.

Yuta feels relief that the first bug went down quickly, and that the second one is going after someone else and not him. In the next instant he resolves to never explain this emotion to Huckle Jim. Instead he fires again, hoping he can pierce its thick hide.

Yuta's pain receptors cry out in protest, but he tries to calmly assess the situation. "This weapon appears less effective than normal," he announces. However, a partially-blocked weapon in the hand is marginally better than a cursed one in its sheath, so he takes a careful step back from the bouncy creature that bit him, and readies to shoot again. He wavers slightly when Arratoi directs their attention to the other one, which has apparently spilled some alcohol on the ship. But he cannot ignore the larger threat in his face, so he shoots instead at the one right in front of him.

Yuta blinks in surprise, trying to parse Arratoi's string of insults, then finally pieces together which of the insects he is referring to. He tries to put a bullet in the creature, and then steps to the side to take cover behind a crate.

Attack vs. green KAC: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
Piercing damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Yuta struggles to keep straight in his mind the sudden influx of unfamiliar names. He doesn't have any better idea than their guide of the new information's significance. "Dystane, do you know who all those people were?"

When they get to the next room, he looks at the egg sacs with concern. "I surmise that something is alive here." He draws his non-cursed pistol, takes a cautious step just inside the doorway and looks carefully around.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Yuta notices Chivix having trouble with the door, and goes over to offer some pointers. "This wire needs to stay away from that component. I will hold it for you so you have another limb available to work."

I can auto-assist on Engineering, so I'll help whoever tries to get the door open. Or stand a healthy distance away if we switch to breaking directly through.

Argh, I just knew it had that trap-like feeling. I only have one non-analog weapon, so it gets the curse.

Yuta panics for a few moments, thinking his own internal components have been scrambled. It turns out to be just his wave modulator that is sparking and glitching; bad enough, but it could have been much worse.

Computers to remove the curse: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

In the next room, he goes to set one of the locator disks on the weapons cache and push the button to activate it, while musing over the voice from the recording. "That individual sounds a little unhinged," he comments mildly.

"Ow! Yeowch!" Yuta is so distracted by the painful squall that he is no help whatsoever with getting inside. I took 17 points of SP damage. If we're going to take a rest I'll just spend the RP to get it all back.

Mysticism: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Yuta jerks reflexively at the sound of the creaky old door, but they manage to get inside. He suppresses a desire to try to fix it, reminding himself that they have other goals at the moment. He wanders over to look at the mushrooms when Chivix points them out.

"I do not recommend eating these. They do not look like natural mushrooms. I suspect they are the result of either lingering magic or spores from some supernatural creature. If there is such a being, it may still be here. Stay alert." He looks at the flickering computer screen, to see if it has any hazardous exposed wires or short circuits.

Search for traps or dangers at the vault door; if I see nothing, try to access the computer.

Yuta leaps to action following Chivix's lead and shouts to be heard over the wind: "No time to search, we need to get in there!" With that agreement he joins in with everyone else to toss debris right and left.

"Indeed, that sounds significant." He turns to the refugees and says, "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. May Triune guide you safely to the Starstone."

Once he is sure the ship won't fall to pieces before they make it out of the Drift, he returns to their own vessel to continue the mission.

Yuta asks the man in a straightforward manner, "How can we assist you? Does your ship need repairs to reach the Pact Worlds safely?" He takes a look at the vessel from the inside to judge the state of its damage and whether they could manage any repairs in a reasonable time frame.

Engineering: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

As if as an afterthought, he turns to the huddled mass of refugees and casts Detect Affliction to see whether any of them have diseases that need to be treated immediately. His manner of triage is the same as when he examined the ship.

I don't have a strong opinion on it, but when I played (as a different character) we befriended them both but had a better time with the husks, so I'd vote for that.

Yuta lurches from the unexpected slap, and then blinks up at the vesk. "Ah, yes, Julakesh. It has been a while since then. I am glad to see you well." He mentally reviews the missions he has undertaken in that time, and tries to pick out a highlight that would sound anything like an 'epic battle'. His eyes light up at one particular space encounter. "Oh! We encountered a vesk salvage ship out in the Drift and defeated them in an honorable duel. The crew of the Honorbound told us we fought bravely. It was my first time off of Absalom Station." He stands tall, genuinely proud of this accomplishment. "And you, have you been spreading your name among the Society?"

An android with androgynous appearance listens attentively to the experiences of the others. "I have not been to Elytrio myself, but I have heard about this mission and studied their language. I am pleased to have been selected to join you and see it for myself. I will endeavor not to slow you down."

Before they leave he buys some armor and weapons to resupply himself, wondering what sort of dangers they will encounter on the military base. During the journey he indulges Chivix's hobby and finds the theory of voices in the Drift quite fascinating. He spends some time wearing the radiation headphones with his eyes closed, and though he doesn't hear any particular meaning in it, he finds it pleasingly meditative.

I figured the first two spoilers were different checks.

Though he’s a little nonplussed at how willing Envar is to just let them into everything, he tries to quickly scan the room and take it all in at once.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

None of the decorations seem to be relevant, so he sticks to what he knows by moving in the look closer at the computer.

Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Tucked just behind it he notices a finger-sized storage module that should be portable. He picks it up and starts casually twirling it around in one hand. “Was Bubbles a fish, perhaps?” he asks absently.

Yuta at least would definitely use the info, yeah. Envar’s keycard has been working so far.

Yuta takes a closer look at the door which is apparently equipped with an alarm. He bends to work with Serrarra at redirecting its programming.

Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Yuta whispers back to Lynn, "I believe you may be right. I thought we might find something incriminating, but it does appear to be simply an observatory."

He follows the others to continue their 'grand tour', and carefully makes a bland expression when they encounter the guards. He briefly contemplates how difficult this would all be if they did not have Envar with them to smooth the way, but then he pushes aside that distracting thought and tries to focus on the here and now.

More stuff we can take? He means other peoples' belongings. This kid is quite strange. At least he still seems to like us, Yuta thinks privately. Nevertheless, they are doing their job of investigating so he goes into the next room to look around.

He examines the shelves briefly and tries to look inside the storage container but it is locked. He glances up to make sure Envar isn't looking, and gestures at somebody in the other room to talk to him as a distraction. Not that Envar seems to care, but just in case. Then he takes out his engineering kit and tries to quickly get the container open.

Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

He pulls out the equipment to examine. (Everything in the spoiler) He wonders briefly if they are likely to be encountering any more of those elemental things with their dangerous radiation, but he takes personal interest only in the sprayflesh and the cybernetic arm, which he examines with enthusiasm. Yuta realizes that they have no time to install such a thing even if he wanted to, and he puts it down regretfully.

Yuta is busy examining the shelves to look for more equipment, so he is surprised when Lynn points out a small drone. He takes a closer look.

"Envar, get back!" Yuta snaps. His patience with the young man is wearing thin as it is, and he does not understand how someone could fail to even recognize a deadly threat in front of his eyes.

Seeing Lynn direct her musical and magical attention to one of the elementals, Yuta focuses his energies on the other one. From his outstretched hand he forms three more bolts of pure magic, each one a long thin cone, mostly transparent but crackling with magical energy. They whiz forward around Lynn, Serrarra, and Sovokolok-Asnari, before pummeling the elemental.

Magic Missile vs red: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2, 1) + 3 = 10

"That's... very cool," says Yuta, trying to adapt to the young man's vernacular. "What happens in the rest of the observatory? Through there, for instance?" He points at the door to the east.

"Go all in! Caution is for those who expect to lose! Fly straight ahead!" Yuta himself seems to have lost his caution and has become very worked up at the outcome of this game.

"Well done, you're halfway through. Now if you keep the momentum going and swoop around this way, you can get the next one too."

"Oh, Slicer, that's a good choice." Yuta points out a tip to get around the other ship on the other side.

Yuta brightens when Serrarra takes out one of the swarm fighters. "That's right! Keep it up. Taking out the enemy is the best way to succeed."

Piloting for the defense: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Yuta crowds forward behind Serrarra's shoulder, curious in spite of the situation. He watches for a few seconds and tries to grasp the strategy behind it. Destroy before you're destroyed is the basic sense he gets.

"Try doing a Chorklaw maneuver," he advises, and demonstrates with his hand one good way to fly a ship to avoid getting hit. Whether that particular strategy will work in a vidgame remains to be seen.

Yuta hesitates; he is genuinely curious to try the drinks at what looks to be a high-end establishment like this, but he does not want to pay for it. Androids aren't made of credits. However, he can't think of a diplomatic way to ask whether he needs to foot his own bill, so he regretfully turns down the offer.

He does take an interest in what the android server was saying, so he asks Envar, "You said something about anticorp hacktivists just now. Does someone object to what the corporation is doing here?"

Yuta doesn't bother with coats, but he cheerfully hands over his laser pistol for safekeeping, knowing that he can defend himself without it if necessary. He looks around the foyer curiously. "Impressive. Are you a regular here, Envar? Any favorites to recommend?"

Yuta somehow picks up on some of the signals he's getting from Lynn and his teammates, and steps forward. He holds out a hand toward the lashunta and introduces himself, sticking to a serious manner that he calculates will be easier to maintain. "Requiem. It is certainly good to meet you. I don't know that any of us are VIPs, but maybe that will change after the battle we fought today. And if so it will be thanks to this arena and you, so I will be in your debt. A tour would be a great honor, and of course the chance to get to know you on a more personal basis. To be... best friends, you said?" He considers attempting a smile but is fairly sure that it will backfire so he keeps trying to pull off the stoic android look.

Yuta jerks to awareness when Serrarra shouts them into action. Kitty cat indeed. He lifts his chin, takes a firm stance, and fires off a shot with his laser pistol, being careful to avoid DICEBOT, who is doing a great job at holding his ground in front of such an intimidating creature.

Yuta moves forward as if in a daze, trying to even out the left side of their impromptu formation. He cannot take his eyes off the restraints around the crest eater as they clatter and then withdraw. Suddenly there is very little at all between himself and that creature. He raises his laser pistol, which suddenly feels a little inadequate, and braces himself for the imminent attack.

Yuta - or as he's currently known, Requiem - momentarily freezes when he catches sight of the creature. Carnage? Crowds? Slaughter for entertainment? What am I doing here?

He tries to shake it off and imagine what a professional gladiator would do, and one thing comes to mind: an impressive entrance. So he performs a somersault out of the entryway and tries to come up in an dramatic fighting pose.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

His grand entrance comes out more like a glorified stumble.

It sounds like each of the three of us with the skills should help out one of the others. I'll take Sovokolok.

"Damoro the Deathdealer sounds good. Nice and intimidating. If you don't want to change your appearance, this shouldn't be too hard..." He taps some more at the computer.

Does the cumulative -2 penalty include myself as the first PC I did a skill check for? Re-reading the instruction I'm not sure, but anyway I rolled well so yay!

Yuta considers Lynn's proposal. "I am honored that you would consider me for the role of Mr. Swolo, but I doubt that I could carry off a convincing 'dashing' if my life depended on it, and it very well might. I would be more comfortable to maintain an android persona, in any case. This physique would be difficult to conceal."

Yuta sits down at a computer and struggles to come up with an alternate identity. He searches his memories for a word or a name that would evoke death and victory without actually sounding too aggressive. Finally he settles on... "Requiem, that is what I will call myself. An unknown android who came from the Diaspora and wants to make a name for himself."

Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Inspiration begins to flow as he continues to doctor the identification documents, and he begins drafting a story about a murdered friend named Paradox, as a believable motivation for why he left home.

I can also do a computers check for someone else.

He turns toward the vesk, who does not seem to have grasped the request for subtlety on this mission. "Would you at least accept an alternate name, for the sake of remaining undercover? A mysterious vesk who has just as much pride and honor and accomplishments in battle as yourself."
