Raven felt the deep sickening tendrils of the Queen of Gold slide through his mind, wrapping around, corrupting him, pulling him further into a nightmare world. But somehow his newfound sense of primal self helped his spirit find his wings and take flight and he managed to escape falling into a depth he did not wish to fall into.

Raven looked fatigued now, but he also seemed different somehow.
0th level Primal spell learned: Beast Within. Raven's dark eyes have a glint to them as if he was looking at something bright and gold reflecting within.

"That's... that's enough for now." he said, quietly.

Raven grinned at the apparent success of his gamble, having learned what he could from the Queen of gold. He now understood the Undead a lot better and how Anne managed to hide from them... and now he knew how to hide from them too. Although the feeling of oily darkness did not dissipate.

Learning Necromancy spell Hide from Undead.

But Raven wasn't done yet.
"Hold on, you have more to teach. I want to hear about the beast men. Why they had you on the altar and why disaster followed you once we moved you from the island. I've been called Raven ever since I was little. I would know more of these... primal ways."

1 bane communing with the Queen of Gold. 1 boon, Trickery.
Will vs. Communion with Queen of Gold: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Uh oh!

Raven bit his lower lip as the Queen of Gold answered his questions and offered her power. It was something he had thought about, but never had the freedom to learn. Certainly not when he'd been grabbed by the inquisitor and forced to work under him... He had killed a man before and was now doomed to hell, there really wasn't any going back for him, at least so he'd been told again and again. That was long ago enough the fear had faded.

If I can live a little longer because I've learned what she has to offer, then it's worth it, right? Besides, I've got Kris on my side. If anyone can help me, it's her.

He smiled as Kris began speaking.
"That might have been true before, but remember, Kris, now hat we have the Queen of Gold, we don't really have to know where Anne's going. We can draw her to us, as long as she still desires to have the Queen that is. If we spread the word that we have her and intend to return the Queen to her rightful place, Anne would likely move to intercept us."

He eyed the Queen of Gold, sighing deeply and raising his arms and shoulders in a form of surrender.
"But there's no telling what'll happen when Anne catches up to us or what we'll find when we get to your husband's island. So, I can't say I have any real spark of magic, but I'm willing to lay my soul on the line to try."

1 bane, Queen of Gold. 1 boon, trickery
"I need you to tell me everything, and I mean Everything, you remember about how Anne came upon you, snuck past your husband's guardians, and managed to escape. I may very well need to learn to do the same."

"How did she steal you from your husband's lair? Was it sudden and violent or subtle and surprising? Aside from being able to speak to us into our minds, what else can you do? Also, did Anne simply ignore the warning you gave?" Raven crossed his arms at the prospect of trusting what this statue said without further questioning.

Raven helped pull Thomas up to his feet.

"Come on, Thomas. We didn't make it this far just to die here." with that, he started to run.

"So... apparently you have..." Raven grunted as he was torn up again by the Vultureman. Realizing this enemy was just a bit too fast to escape from easily and too good while trying to dodge, he abandoned defending himself and switched back to assault.

Normally, Raven was faster but the pain in his movements slowed him down. Not wanting to press his luck he drew a syringe and used it to heal some of his wounds.

"Gaaagh!!"
Raven recoiled from the vultureman's attack, blood streaming freely down from his arm, he drew his scimitar and swung clumsily as he stumbled back, missing entirely. Once he'd gotten his feet under him, he put up his guard.

"Not bad, but have you ever met the human version of a headache!"

He clicked his tongue as Kris praised her deity, Shavra.
It isn't Shavra that's helping to save us, it's you, Kris.

"Never had any dreams about a golden statue of a woman, exactly. But I certainly have had dreams of striking it rich with tons of treasure before. It's not quite what I'd been imagining but in this case, it's good enough. Come on, let's grab it before anything else decides to show its face." Raven started to move forward but then held back.

"But maybe you should go to it first, Thomas. This is literally your 'dream woman' after all."

Raven grimaced, taking another shot. But the creature's flailing, as it was simultaneously blasted by Kris's light beam and rushed by Thomas and his men, forced Raven to aim high and his arrow missed.

"Apothecary offered me a special deal, since I was a regular. Something pretty uncommon, said it would restore not only my body but my youthful vitality. Thought it was just a sales pitch to sell me something at a higher price but with our prospects looking so good, I decided to try one anyway. Gotta say, I'm impressed with the results." he spoke with a grin.

He followed her gaze. "Yeah, although these two seemed a bit different. Less eel or water themed. Still, a bad sign."

"Well, that one nearly killed me! But we did him in good that time, didn't we? Huh, what do you know!" He said, checking his throat with surprise in his voice as he looked at himself. "Guess he wasn't a snake oil salesman after all!"
