Glad you had fun. The low tier party should be called Noah's Ark or the Pet Shop Boys or something. I thought we were playing old school Palladium Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles there for a moment.
So was everyone scared by the roomful of ghouls (the high tier party--or as I call them the Leaping Lizards, had 13 ghouls and fetrogs in that room). It's a classic Gygax room filled with 44 trolls and a treasure chest.
Give me a heads up when you all (or at least those of you who are interested) are somewhere between levels 3 and 5ish or 5 and 7ish and we can schedule a return voyage. Part two for those of you who missed it is The Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts (tier 3-7), while part three is Hrethnar's Throne (tier 5-9).
Hah, its funny you say that about the party. I'm playing in a home game of Skull and Shackles that has a party consisting of a Tengu, a catfolk, a kitsune, a ratfolk, a gripli, and a homebrew otter-folk race.

Kyra will spend some time in the evening carefully preparing notes on the various creatures they encountered. She will list off the ghouls and festrogs, as well as their paralytic and stench abilities. She will consult with Remy about the leech and what he knew about that (I think it was him that made a successful knowledge check?). She will also converse with Remmy about what he knows about the tumor, and include a drawing along with a description of the hunk of flesh, so that others might research it before making further expeditions.

Down below, the steep stairwell ends in a small chamber with only one other exit--a solid stone door carved to resemble an immense scowling face. The relief seems to stare down accusingly at the two.

Maybe to sweeten the pot we can offer to leave the rope we climbed down here with. Kyra would probably be reticent to potentially unleash him on the world,and won't suggest it, but could be convinced if someone else suggested it since he will have trouble getting off the gloomspire. That would allow him to hunt for fresh meat in the form of birds, small mammals, and fish.

You are correct. I don't suppose that. As my friends said, we do not have any wounded or dying with us. The Dawnflower has kept all of us quite healthy. However, there is a leech we slew back there. I believe our resident ratfolk, Remy, has some fantastic ideas,[b] Krya winces and looks sick for a moment when considering this, before continuing, [b]for how to prepare it that you might be interested in. If that is not to your liking, there are w few bodies of up top that we could bring down for you. I am reticent to allow the desecration of their bodies in such a way... but if it can prevent further death, perhaps it is ok.
As for future expeditions, we will be more than happy to instruct them to bring you some live game to eat whenever they come. Chickens, geese, fish, rabbits. Your choice. Nothing sentient. And if you request something unpractical to transport here in a jolly boat, you may have to make due with non-living meat.

As Lumo said, Captain Thrennt is now deceased. I apologize for my earlier outburst - typically Ghouls are far less reasonable than you. We have the authority to parley with you and hopefully reach a deal that will make us all happy. The item we seek was hidden in a side room off of the 'Hall of Flesh Eaters.' I'd say this fits the bill. I'd wager our prize can be found in that room through the rubble choked passage. Before we set to clearing the passageway, lets see what is in the other room. It will take a while to clear the rubble, and I'd hate for us to be ambushed in the meantime. I'd also like to see if we can destroy that horrible pile of flesh... it might be beyond our abilities, but perhaps we could hack it apart...

After seeing them, she will move back and inform the party of what she knows.
Both of these creatures are types of ghouls- cannibalistic humans who were dragged back from death due to their foul practices in life. The four-legged ones are festrogs - they usually travel in back and bring down targets before killing them with their bloody maws. They are covered in necrotic boils that contain a foul disease. Perhaps we should draw their attention, then fight them in the previous room at the choke point.

I do not have any holy water, however I can use the light of Sarenrae to burn any undead. I don't know what they are chanting about, but in my experience interrupting the chanting is usually a better idea than letting them finish. Lets get in there.

Kyra, delighted at being asked about the tenants of Sarenrae launches into a long involved speech about the finer points of the rituals for sanctifying the bodies of the dead before burial or cremation. She is so involved that she doesn't really seem to notice what Lumo is doing.
Well, that is an interesting question. Obviously, Sarenrae would frown upon ritualistic desecration of the bodies of one's enemies. However, there are various purifying rituals one can perform if the body in question was the worshiper of an evil god, and another set of rituals to purify the bodies of, for example, one that was possessed by a demon or raised as some sort of undead. These rituals have different purposes. The rituals for those who freely worshiped evil gods, or just generally did evil in their life are intended to make it more difficult to raise the bodies as undead later, or resurrect them, or other such things like that that evil gods tend to like doing. The rituals set forth for those that were possessed serve to purify the soul of an otherwise good person who was unwillingly made the pawn of an evil entity, such that they might find their final rest in the afterlife despite the actions their body was forced to perform in life. For those that don't fall into either category, Sarenrae teaches respect for the dead, but there aren't any incredibly strict tenants that are prescribed for them, other than the normal rites that we would give to any other person. Now, it is very common for all of the rituals to be concluded with a creamation, as the purifying flames are the best...

This corpse was killed by some sort of canine creature. The arm appears to have been torn off after he was dead. Be on alert, there are likely hostile animals around.

Kyra clambers down the large crack. She takes the want from Remmy, and gives Kahwen and Remmy a few taps with it, conversing as she does so.
Lumo, if you wish to learn some of the tenants of Sarenrae and worship the goddess, I would be more than willing to help you in whatever ways I can.
After the party is patched up, Kyra will nod to Lumo, mutter an incantation and hold her glowing holy symbol aloft to guide the party forward.

I'll take 10 on a heal check to see if I can figure out what is wrong, for a 17. And are there any knowledge checks that are relevant here? I only have religion (at a +4), but maybe a nature, local or arcana could give us more info?

Once that is done, she will approach the remaining Kuru, with hands out to show she has no weapons.

Lacking any relevant skills for either of those, I vote we go the slower, easier route.
I favor the brute force method. If anyone cleverer than I can surmise a more expeditious method, I am up for trying that, but working our way though in a methodical manner seems like the best idea for me.
