Yar was the youngest of 4 brothers. His father owned a fleet of trading ships that specializes in moving / trading exotic animals. Yar had a great love for animals, but since his father only had three ships, he was not destined to inherit a boat, so he trained to handle the onshore dealings with various traders and merchants. He had quite a knack for getting the best deal our of the merchants. He also dealt with the health, and inspection of the incoming and outgoing animals, and became close friends with a Cleric of Gozreh, whom helped heal the animals when they were injured or sick. He had a little sister whom helped with the dealings, and found she was better with dealing with the merchants, and he enjoyed working with the animals.

His father realized that that's where Yar's heart lay, and sponsored him to become a cleric of Gozreh. He made sure however that he had everything he needed, including nice equipment, and supplies. He has completed his entry training in the worship of Gozreh, and is assisting around the warehouse, but has a strong yearning to see the world.
